A workshop and session on Emotional Intelligence was conducted by Dr.V.Jaykumar for the managers and supervisors of Novotel and Ibis, Accor Group, as a part of the university’s industry interface. The session delved on importance of Emotional Intelligence at workplace, as a tool to improve productivity, and as a key driver for customer engagement.
The students of hospitality program got an opportunity to interact with alumnus, Saumitra Chaturvedi, Director-Operations of Accor Hotel Group. He talked about career aspirations to reach the top.
The mainstream media covered the active placement scene on campuses despite news about shrinking job opportunities. “Placement officers need to attract new companies. This is a positive shift in the trend. Students must have knowledge of artificial intelligence, internet of things, virtual reality and more,” said K S Sridhar, placement director, PES University.
The day was celebrated by highlighting the importance food sustainability. Slow Food, promoted as an alternative to fast food, is an effective way of preserving traditional and regional cuisine. It encourages farming of plants, seeds and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem. Dr. Trilocahn Sastry, IIM Bangalore in his keynote emphasized the need for social entrepreneurship among young students that benefits the community.
Catalyst, the event club and forum was inaugurated at an impressive ceremony. The logo was unveiled on the occasion and poster and video teaser were released. The students regaled the audience with a delightful dance performance. The inauguration program held on Jan 12, 2018 in Tech Park seminar hall was conceived and managed by students of BBA-HEM program.
The PES University campus was brimming with ideas as students demonstrated the projects they had undertaken and completed successfully. The guiding spirit for 2018 edition of Prakalpa was “idea plus action equals change”. True the spirit, twenty two stalls were abuzz with demos as the innovators shared their best ideas, working prototypes and their understanding of the industry they will be serving.
The second edition of the tournament which is becoming popular saw participation of thirty engineering colleges from across Karnataka and University of Colombo. The cricket and badminton event organized by PES University was held from Jan 19 to 23, 2018.
