The recently held competition to recognize students of architecture who showed creativity and excellence in designing on a predefined theme saw participation from across the world. The team from PES University comprising of Rishab Chandra, Roshni Pushparaj, Sneha Baid, Srishti Ekanth and Supreeth S Kumar secured third place in Birla White Yuvaratna NXT award category from among 700 entries. The team conceptualized, detailed and executed the mural depicting the theme on a 6.0 x 4.0 feet area of wall. Titled ‘Nirvana’ the mural portrayed the theme, ‘Chaos to Peace’ creatively using the concepts from abstract geometry and iconography. Originality of idea and proficiency in working with the medium impressed the judges. The award vindicates the university’s emphasis on nurturing imagination and practical skills in students of design and architecture programs.

To nourish the vision of India an innovative competition called “Digital Beti” was held. The contest, open for girl students all over India showcased presentations about government developmental plans and judged presentation creation talent that can inspire the nation. Her ID: DB9715 Vibha Chetan is a First Semester student from Faculty of Architecture and Design. She is among the top 20 list of Digi Beti contestants, selected from the 4500+ who applied for the National Presentation Contest – 2017 supported by Government of India Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD) and she is the only student representing Karnataka.
Students participating in competitions PES Group of Institutions is hosting Zeal -a national level inter-collegiate sports, cultural and technical competition for students of Hospitality. Three events were held under Zeal – Shresta (tech-nical), Kreeda (sports) and Sanskriti (cultural). The programme began on February 21 and will end today. Shresta, the techincal involves four departments – culinary arsts,hhouseInTeping, food and bevrage service and front office. Students shall compete in these spheres to win the trophy. In kreeda, the students will compete in kabbadi and cricket among others.
Samarpana 17, an annual bake-and-sell initiative by the students of a city-based university, was aimed at honouring the martyrs of the Indian armed forces. The event saw students set up stalls and sell homemade products.The visitors too came out whole-heartedly to munch on the eatables and support the cause. The profits generated were directed towards the welfare of the martyr’s families.
As part of World Space Week celebrations, Space Expo was held at Kochi to create awareness among the student community about the advancements made by India in space research. PiSat team members from PES University displayed a life size model of the PiSat, a sample of the solar cell, a sample of the magnetic torque rod, samples of the 4-pi sun sensor, and a sample of the battery used.
The 24 hour Hackathon organized by Microsoft Lab, PES University saw interesting ideas and projects from several domains, ranging from Artificial Intelligence to Internet of Things to Smart Technologies.
Rohin Gopalakrishnan and Arvind Kumar created a Facebook Messenger bot – BroTender that automates and simplifies customer interaction at bars and restaurants.
