TEAM AVIONS FLIES HIGH AT AERO DESIGN CHALLENGE. CLINCHED THE OVERALL PERFORMANCE AWARD WHICH INCLUDES RS 1 LAKH CASH PRIZE.
Team Avions – the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) design team participated in micro class category and won 1st place at SAE India Southern Section Aero Design Competition held at Chennai. The team members are students of PESIT- Bangalore South Campus.
A group of final year students of mechanical engineering Sachin, Sumith, Surender and Irsahd under the guidance of Dr. S.V. Satish from PESIT-BSC have invented an automatic screen printing machine.
Vibha and Aabharan have been selected to participate in Make in India Bootcamp to be held in IIT Delhi and IIT Mandi. They are among the 48 students selected from across the globe. The camp is all about innovation, design thinking, fabrication and entrepreneurship with participation of students from leading universities like Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Asia School of Business, and IITs.

PESU Cricket team wins the Vyooha 2017 organised by Surana college. Mithun Bhat, Department of BBA, 3rd year was declared the Player of the Tournament and Utpal Naadiger, Department of ECE, 2nd year was declared the Best Bowler.
PES University represented by Aarthi Vishwanathan, Bhavik Shah and Akshay Kumar won second place at Deloitte’s Collegiate Cyber Threat Competition (CCTC). The team competed with 19000+ students from all over India to qualify for the finals held at the Deloitte Campus at Hyderabad.
The team of Madhu G Nadig, Bhargav K N, D Naveen Reddy, Imran A Manzoor, Naveen Patil and Mansukh P bagged the “Innovation Award” for department of defense production in Smart India Hackathon – 2017. PM Modi addressed the participants in the Smart India hackathon.
The solution developed by the team was about Real-time intelligence gathering and analytics. It consisted of building an end to end Software-as-a-Service that collects data and gathers insights from online data in real time that enables defense analysts to make sense of big data generated by myriad of internet based sources. The focus was on real time threat detection, anomaly finding, sentiment analysis and effective summarization. The team successfully built and performed a demo of the project for the judges and analyzed many defense-sensitive issues using our platform. The highlight of the solution was the robustness and adaptability of the platform to handle any sort of data, interactive real time visualizations and a custom end to end encryption algorithm.
Smart India Hackathon 2017, world’s biggest hackathon, an HRD ministry initiative aims to promote innovation and out-of-the-box thinking in young minds, especially engineering students. Out of the 7531 idea submissions received for the 598 problems posted by 29 government departments, 1266 ideas were shortlisted for the ‘Grand Finale’ on April 1 & 2, 2017, during which these teams worked nonstop for 36 hours to build products based on their ideas across 26 locations in India. Evaluation criteria included novelty of the idea, complexity, clarity and details in the prescribed format, feasibility, practicability, sustainability, scale of impact, user experience and potential for future work progression.
PES University participated in inter collegiate basketball tournament at REVAMP ’17 to finish as the undisputed champions. In the opening game, the team took on CMRIT and scored a comfortable 40-16 win. In the next round, encountering relatively taller Acharya IT players and after a closely contested first half, the team went on a scoring run to win the game 49-24. Facing MVJCE in the semifinals, after taking a massive lead at the end of the first quarter, the team cruised to a 39-11 win over their opponents. The stage was set for the finals against MVIT. Both the teams gave their best and at the end it was PES University who held onto their nerves and closed out the game with a 43-42 win. Akshat Devrani, captain of PES University, was awarded the best player of the tournament. Rohit of PESIT Bangalore South Campus finished second in the prestigious Boeing National Aeromodelling Festival organised by IIT Kanpur on March 20, 21.
Rohit was representing Team Avions. According to Team Avions mentor Dr SV Satish Rohit was at 5th position in virtual round which constitutes of design and fabrication of the Un-Manned Aircraft (UAV) out of 300 participating colleges including IITs. Later, during aerobatics round, Rohit gave a tough competition to all other teams and finished at 2nd position Overall. The PESIT management, staff and students are extremely happy with Rohit’s achievement. Rohit is in his first year of mechanical engineering.
The team Avions constituting 45 members had qualified in virtual round in SAE Bangalore and SAE Chennai events. The team will now participate in the aerobatic round scheduled for April 2017.

Akhil Siddharth and Aabharan Hemanth won the Bangalore edition of Tata Crucible quiz. The business quiz seeks to bring together sharpest young students in India to take on the heat of the toughest business quiz in India. The quiz has been judged highest rated ground quiz by the students of participating colleges. Twelve editions of the Crucible Campus version have been held so far with respective national finals after the city and zonal rounds. The winners took home cash prize of ₹75,000 and qualify for the South Zonal Finals. Akhil Siddharth is a student of first year BE and Aabharan Hemanth is a student of first year B. Design.
