PES University student bags GHC Scholarship
Aarthi Vishwanathan was among the Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) of Women in Computing scholarship awardees chosen from India.
Presented by the AnitaBorg Institute for Women in Technology, it is India’s largest gathering of women technologists. Aarthi, as a GHC scholarship applicant, was asked to write about why she deserves this scholarship, what her technical interests are and why she thinks GHC would provide a learning platform to interact and gain experience from leaders coming from all over India. In the several rounds of review by a committee of experienced men and women professionals, she clocked high scores. The application was reviewed based on criteria such as academic achievements, focus on specialization through internships, participation in contests and workshops, projects and other extracurricular activities. GHC awards scholarships to students to attend and learn from different conference sessions, meet other women in technology and connect with leading organizations. Scholarship recipients also get access to GHC’s Student Career Fair, where students meet top recruiters from global technology companies. Aarthi says “This is a great opportunity for students driven by a passion for technology, to meet the like-minded and get an exposure at global level, and gain an insight into the increasing role of women in technology in the future.” Aarthi is a student of 5th Sem in Department of Computer Science and Engineering at PES University.
