Team Aranea makes it to Top 10 at IIGP 2.0 University Challenge. Receives a grant of Rs. 10 Lakhs and mentoring.

Team Aranea’s innovation was selected from the short-listed top thirty projects at India Innovation Growth Programme (IIGP 2.0) University Challenge-2017. In a closely contested round, they presented their idea to a panel of eminent judges from industry and academia at Innovators Tank challenge at IIT-Bombay.

A novel drag-enhancement system for rapid de-orbiting of spacecraft (Nano/Micro-satellites) in Low Earth orbits (LEOs) that falls under the category of Space Debris Mitigation impressed the panel. The team comprising of students from various departments and semesters besides their regular academics worked on the project during the year, at CORI in PES University. More than 350 teams from universities all over India participated in the competition. Team Aranea receives a grant of Rs. 10 Lakhs and mentoring over the next one year, followed by Phase B of the competition. The India Innovation Growth Programme (IIGP) launched in 2007, is a public-private partnership between Government of India’s Department of Science & Technology (DST), Lockheed Martin Corporation and Tata Trusts for promoting innovations that have strong societal impact and cutting edge industrial innovations.
