Samarpana Run 2023 - Sees Over 1100 Participants Join in a Spirit of Unity @ PESU

Team SAMARPANA, a student initiative from PES University, Bangalore organized a Marathon with the theme ‘RUN WITH JAWANS’ at the Ring Road Campus on the 29th of October 2023. The idea behind the event is to bring to light the sacrifices of our martyrs, to remember and posthumously honor them, and to awaken the spirit of patriotism amongst the students and our fellow countrymen. The proceeds from the marathon will be directed towards the betterment of the families of martyrs.

The event had a footfall of around 1100+ runners including students, parents, the general public, and alumni of PES institutions.

Colonel S. S. Rajan, our esteemed chief guest flagged off the Samarpana Marathon.

The run commenced with the flagoff for the 10 km route at 6:00 a.m., followed by the 5 km route at 6:20 a.m. Participants of all ages and backgrounds came together to run in honor of our nation's heroes. The event concluded at approximately 8 a.m., as runners crossed the finish line with a sense of accomplishment and unity.

After the run, the audience was treated to mesmerizing performances by the talented teams Encore and Trance of Pes University, adding an artistic touch to the event.

During the later part of the day, the families of our brave martyrs were honored in an event organized by the Samarpana team.

Major General Anuj Mathur was the chief guest along with Mrs. Shakuntala Bhandarkar (Director, Metamorphes Foundation) and Mr, Jeevan Shetty as Guests of Honor. Each family was presented with a cash amount of Rs. 20,000/- in addition to Samarpana memorabilia. In all, 20 families were honored.

The honoring function was marked by a cultural program featuring the top teams of PES University- Sanskriti (Indian Contemporary Dance), Xuberance (Indian Pop Music), and Divyansh (Flute Solo).

Speaking on the occasion, Major General Anuj Mathur talked about giving our utmost in everything we do, with the paramount focus being on the well being of the nation. He addressed students present in the audience to believe in work is worship and follow the principle of nation first.

Dr. K. S. Sridhar (Registrar), Dr. V. Krishna (Dean of Student Affairs), and Prof. S. V Venkatesh (Chairperson, Civil Dept.) of PES University, graced the occasion.
