Dr S V Satish spoke at an interactive session of the international meet-up of robotics and automation enthusiasts. As an invited panel speaker, he shared his perspective on Robotics and Automation during COVID-19. The meet-up in virtual mode that was held on Sep 18, 2020 and organised by IEEE RAS International Chapter hosted experts from Japan, India and Indonesia.
Amul India hosts talented chefs to present unique native cuisine on its social media sites. Prof Sivaram was invited by Amul India to demonstrate the recipe of a native cuisine. He rustled up a Chettinadu dessert called Kavuni Rice Halwa, black rice pudding, a Chettinadu delicacy for Amul’s global audience. Encouraged by the response to the show, Amul expressed interest in hosting more culinary shows curated by the department of the university. Prof. Sivaram R is an Asst. Professor in the department of BBA-Hospitality and Event Management. The session was held on June 15, 2020 on Amul Facebook Live for #SimpleHomemadeRecipes series garnering over 125 K views.
Dr. M R Doreswamy, Advisor to the Government of Karnataka on Educational Reforms (Cabinet Ranking) occupied his office at Vidhana Soudha Room No 260 today after performing a simple pooja.
Dr. H P Khincha Former Vice-Chancellor VTU, Belagavi, Dr. Siddappa Former Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore University and Dr. J Suryaprasad , Vice-Chancellor, PES University and Dr Lokesha A, OSD and Ex-officio Joint Secretary to Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, officials from Government of Karnataka Secretariat, academicians and representatives from the press and media took part in the pooja.
It can be recalled that Dr. M R Doreswamy ji worked right from the first day of his appointment from his own office at PES University-Hanumantha Nagar campus and also one of his recommendations of MLAs and MLCs adopting 3 government schools was included in the budget.
Even today after the pooja, he started deliberations of education reforms in primary, secondary and higher education with the pioneers in academia.
PES University has been recording class-room teaching regularly and making available to students to access the lectures from home. This practice started five years ago has proved very beneficial to students. The faculty teaching the subject also receives an update every day on the number of students who viewed the lecture in addition to providing the popularity rank of the teacher.
With the current Corona Virus situation causing a lot of anxiety, Universities had to shut down classes in the interest of safety of students.
The University in its bid to utilize the situation constructively is beaming classroom lectures live for students to access the same from their place of stay since Monday March 16, 2020.
The University has put in place a special time table covering 9 lecture sessions in a day each of 40 minutes duration across all courses. The schedule is shared with students so that they are informed on the subject and the teacher. The recorded version of the class is also made available to the student by the end of the day. This helps students to have a relook at the content delivered for better understanding and also serves students who would have missed the live session.
This initiative of the University has been well received by the students with over 80% of students accessing to live / recorded sessions of the classes conducted.
In addition, PES University central library has also provided off-campus access to students for its online resources. Library users at home or elsewhere can log in through their library server and gain access to e-resources.
Dr.M.R.Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University visited the command center that monitors the live online teaching sessions. He appreciated the efforts of the IT team under the mentorship of Prof.Ajoy Kumar, Chief Operating Officer for creating one such facility for students. Prof. Siddappa, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore University and Member, Board of Governors, PES University was all praise for the University for having initiated the live online teaching to students which has enabled them to utilize the time effectively while at home. Prof.Jawahar, Pro-Chancellor, PES University said that the exercise of the University in reaching out to students while they are away from campus has been very fruitful.
It is rightly said that there is no age of being an achiever, this thought rightly imposes on Dr. M.R Doreswamy who recently proved his efficiency in the field of education by getting appointed as the Advisor- Education Reforms, Govt. of Education. The educationist who pursued excellence in the field of education, Dr. Doreswamy, was conferred by our Honorable Chancellor Dr. P Shyama Raju on his February 29, 2020 for being one of the greatest pillars in the education systems and Indian society.
The ceremony was attended by all the dignitaries of REVA University along with the guest dignitary who is one of the pillars of REVA University but makes his presence rare, Dr. Shridhar Mitta, Advisory Board Member and of course our Guest of the day, Dr. M.R Doreswamy.
The felicitation ceremony commenced with the huge applause and introduction of the star of the day Dr. M.R Doreswamy by our Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S Y Kulkarni who left no stone untouched to spread the words of appreciation for the guest of the event.
Dr. M.R Doreswamy thanked REVA for giving him so much respect and then appreciated Dr. P Shyama Raju for his continuous effort from the ground level. Dr. Doreswamy then spoke about his journey which he started as a teacher and today also if he gets an opportunity, he never misses and loves to teach. He added, “I taught for more than 40 years and my subject was Economics”. He also advised the faculty of REVA University to enjoy their teaching and students should also enjoy learning. Dr Doreswamy clearly stated that he was stunned by the progress and leap steps taken by REVA University which has in so short a time period soared high. He stated clear that REVA must focus on international partnerships and invite faculty and students from abroad to come and study in the mini USA campus created by Dr P Shyama Raju.
He concluded his speech by saying that a person should never forget 3 Ms in life – Mother who is a personification of god, Mother Tongue and Mother Land. Also, appreciated Bangalore city as being the most employable and education-oriented city.
Dr. P Shyama Raju, Chancellor, REVA University, thanked Dr. M.R Doreswamy for being so kind and appreciating REVA. He also made it clear that REVA has already invited students from Universities abroad and as a practice, students from select countries are trained at REVA UIIC and another cohort of students from Universities in the UK and Spain will be attended the Summer Schools offered by REVA School of Architecture and School of Performing Arts. The event was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Shubha, Director, Commerce and Management.

Dr. Jessy Nair, Associate Professor, MBA Department received the award for Best Paper in Pedagogical Innovations for the paper titled Co-creation for continuous learning at MARKCON2020, Marketing Ecosystems and Innovations. The nomination was submitted in three parts: nomination details, innovation statement and annexures. The final round involved quizzing by the jury of Dr. Moutusy Maity, Professor-Marketing, IIM-Lucknow and Dr. Tapan Sarker, Griffith University, Australia. The International conference, open for faculty in marketing domain was held from 9-11 January, 2020 at IBA, Bangalore.
