India’s interest is the priority: Dr. S. Jaishankar

As part of Bharat Unleashed program - golden jubilee celebrations of PES Institutions, day 3 of the four-day event had the theme: Bharat, that is India:  Rediscovering its past to inform its future. On the Occasion, Shri. S. Jai Shankar, Honourable Minister   for External Affairs, in conversation with  Shri. Tejasvi Surya,  Honourable  Member of Parliament,  Bangalore  South constituency,  spoke that The present  India  is self confident, aware of itself and its past, and making an impact on the world arena. It all started in 2014 and can lead India to become Vishwa guru during this Amruthkal period. Nonetheless, this newly assertive India is standing up for itself, making India’s interest is the priority than the ideology or one’s principle. While responding to the student query, Dr. Jaishankar said that the inauguration of Ram Mandir is exciting for other countries also because there is a traditional-cultural connection between these countries. For another question, Dr. S. Jaishankar asserted that India needs to stand on ground to counter the external pressure. This stand on is, based on its principles of respect than the fear of dominating the others.  He said that time is not far for India to become the third country in economy in the world. The occasion also witnessed the release of Dr. S. Jaishankar’s new book on foreign policy: Why Bharat matters.

Speaking on the theme, in the speaker's conclave, Shri. Sanjeev Sanyal, Member, Economic Advisory Council to the Honourable Prime Minister of India, said that after 800 years of decline, India is taking the seat back to be number one on the global power house of knowledge and resources by reigniting the civilization journey. India is becoming aware that the colonisation is not outside, but it is inside one’s mind.

Shri. Swaminathan Gurumurthy, Editor,Tughalak while addressing the gathering said that earlier, Indians didn't  have the mind to  rebel against the  humiliation. Now, India is standing for itself without losing the respect it has for other countries.

As part of young innovators talk, Shri Sachin Malhan, Co founder, Agami said that country cannot develop unless it is giving justice to its citizens.

Shri Doshi Jayakumar, MD, Digital, Corporate Units & India, British Telecom Group who was felicitated with the Distinguished Alumni award motivated the students with his impressive speech in the young innovators talk.

Prof. Jawahar Doreswamy, Pro-Chancellor of PES University welcomed the august gathering.

Five alumni of the PES institutions were felicitated for their remarkable achievements by Prof. Ajoy Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of PES Institutions.

Dr. M. R. Doreswamy, Honourable Chancellor, PES University was present on this occasion and released the book authored by Dr. S. Jaishankar.

The day's celebration ended with a musical performance by the Kailash Kher team.
