True nation-building happens with education: Prof. Jawahar Doreswamy

As part of the Bharat Unleashed program - golden jubilee celebrations of PES Institutions, day 2 of the four-day event had the theme: Disruptive innovation, breaking the status quo.  Prof. Jawahar Doreswamy, Honorable Pro-Chancellor of PES University, in his address, said that true nation-building happens through education and PES is committed to embarking on this important activity.

Speaking on the theme, in the speaker's conclave, Shri. Sudhanshu Mani, General Manager (retired) of Integral Coach Factory and a consultant for Indian Railways, how the dream of the Government of India during 2014-15 to make and run the high-speed train on Indian track is possible with a committed team of engineers and workers. He said that leadership with empathy, passion, and a sense of purpose can realize any dream into reality. He added that love and empathy for co-workers, but no misplaced mercy can transform a failing organization into a successful one. He opined that private Universities like PESU can play a big role in the manufacturing sector by providing encouragement and incubation for start-ups.

Shri. B. V. Jagadeesh, Managing Partner, KAAJ Ventures addressed the gathering that India is going through an exciting time and a lot of opportunities for start-ups to reach the third largest economy in 2030 and a 10 Trillion Dollar GDP in 2047. This is because Indigenous innovation is possible in start-ups, he added.

Ms. Shruthi Kannan, Head of Cisco for start-ups spoke in the speakers' conclave that Digital experience is not a rare phenomenon.  It is reaching every corner of India through medical technologies, Electrical vehicle transport, and financial transactions. She suggested that new entrepreneurs can be successful if they perceive and recognize opportunities, build market-relevant solutions, and build and nurture the business they are in. She opined that artificial intelligence cannot compete with human creativity, design thinking, and passion for learning factors.

Shri. Gagan Reddy, Chief Technology Officer, of Proclime, spoke on the need for consciously choosing a career in carbon credit companies to reduce the carbon footprints and conserve the biosphere for future generations. 

Ten alumni of the PES institution have been felicitated for their remarkable contribution to society by Dr. Suresh Krishnamurthy, Medical Director- PESIMSR, Kuppam and PESUIMSR, Bengaluru. The day's celebration ended with a musical performance by the Sur Sandhya team.
