Prestigious Physicians’ Conference held

AP APICON 2018 emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between research in academics and the real world of clinical practice in treating the diversity of needy patients. Dr. S. Sacchidanand, MD, DVD, DHA, FRCP(Glasgow), Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences inaugurated the conference. He opined that sub-specialization has led to fragmentation of medical care and it is only the general physician who provides the holistic care. Dr. G. Narsimulu, Dean Indian College of Physicians remarked that, “Practicing Medicine is not a business. It is a service to humanity with compassion”. Dr. Alladi Mohan, Chairman Elect felt that “Name and fame is earned through service only”. Speaking on the occasion Dr. M. R. Doreswamy said “Providing urban facilities to the rural poor is the vision and mission of PES Group of Institutions”. Secretary; Vice Chair persons- Dr. V. Srinivas, Dr. Ch. Manoj Kumar and Dr. P. Krishna Prasanthi; Dr. C. S.S. Sarma, Treasurer, Dr. S.K. Sharma, Retd. Prof. and HOD of Medicine, AIIMS, New Delhi and Dr. E. Satyanarayana, Vice Chancellor, Dravidian University, Kuppam and Past Chairmen of AP API. The pre-conference Continuing Medical Education Programme workshop which hosted 14 talks was held on Sep 7, 2018. The 46th Annual Conference of Andhra Pradesh chapter of Association of Physicians of India which was held from Sep 8-9, 2018 on PESISMR, Kuppam campus featured 42 scientific lectures, 137 posters, 68 platform presentations. 4 orations, 2 symposia, 2 workshops, debate and quiz.
