  • PES University signs MoU with CARAIO Technologies

    A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between PES University and CARAIO Technologies held on May 19, 2023, to collaborate for pilot implementation and validation activities involving the software product CARAIO-Trainer TM (Artificial Intelligence Based Chromosome Analysis).

    Dr. J. Surya Prasad, Vice Chancellor, PES University and Sri. Sreekanth K. Pallavoor, CARAIO Technologies, signed the MoU. Dr. Sudarshan T. S. B., Dean of Research and Dr. Shanti Koppala Chairperson, Dept. of Biotechnology, PES University were present on the occasion.

    This software will incorporate computer simulation and offer practical exposure to Karyotyping. By implementing this software, both faculty and students can not only validate it but can also improvise it. The MoU with CARAIO Technologies will provide hands-on training and internship opportunities for Biotechnology students.

  • Recruitments for language club

    The language club Linguista! conducted recruitments for its core team of moderators who play an active role in organizing events and encouragers who assist novice learners for the role. The recruitment process was conducted from February 6-10 online.

  • Har Ghar Tiranga Essay Writing Competition

    Write Angle took part in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence by conducting an essay writing contest. It was held on an online platform and was open to all the students of PES University across all 3 campuses. A google form was sent out on the 10th of August and students were allowed to send in their essays through the google form before August 13, 2022, Students were asked to write an essay on one of the two topics presented to them, Role of women in India’s independence and Illusions of the British Raj. What British rule really did to India. Topics were selected with the aim of allowing the participants to delve deeper into the history of Indian independence, and enhance their own understanding of the events surrounding the struggle for independence.

    We had a total of 7 participants. Out of these, Nihaal Kuchangi, a second-year student in the Department of Computer Science bagged first place for his essay on Illusions of the British Raj. Abhishek Kallolikar, a fourth-year student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Dhruva G, a third-year student in the Department of Computer Science came second and third respectively.

  • Announcement of PESSAT-2022 Ranks & Felicitation of Toppers

    At the outset, it gives us immense pleasure to announce the rank list of PESSAT-2022 entrance test conducted for admission to B.Tech programs of PES University for the academic year 2022-23. PES University successfully conducted PESSAT 2022 during June 20 – July 10, 2022. 

    PESSAT-2022 witnessed a large turnout of candidates to take the test. Over 20,000 students from across the country applied for B.Tech Programs offered by the University, an unprecedented number till date. PESSAT-2022 was conducted in 44 centres across India.  

    Dr. M R Doreswamy, Hon’ble Chancellor of PES University and President of PES felicitated the top rankers of PESSAT-2022 with appreciation certificates in the presence of their parents, the press and the media on 13th July 2022. 

    The first rank was bagged by Mr. Nandan Manjunath Immadisetty, student of Naryana Junior College, Mehadipatnam, Telangana, the second rank was bagged by Mr. Atmakuri Venkata Madhava Sriram, student of Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Marathahalli, Bangalore, the third rank was bagged by Mr. Tanay Gad, student of National Public School, Rajajinagar, Bangalore, the fourth rank was bagged by Mr. Nitin Vetcha, student of Narayana E-Techno School, Vidyaranyapura, Bangalore, the fifth rank was bagged by Mr. MD Marufuddin Ahmed, student of Maria’s Public School, Guwahati, the eighth rank was bagged by Mr. Aditya Kishore, student of National Public School, HSR Layout, Bangalore, the ninth rank was bagged by Mr. C S Siddharth, student of Deeksha CFL PU College, Talagahattapura, Bangalore, the tenth rank was bagged by Mr. Jatin Vinod Kumar, student of RV PU College, Jayanagar, Bangalore. The first round of PESSAT counseling will be held on July 23rd and 24th at PES University.

  • Inauguration and orientation of First Year Classes for B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Pharma programs for the academic year 2021-22

    Inauguration and orientation of First Year Classes for B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Pharma programs 2021-22 was held at the PES University campus. Dr. Pradipkumar Thaker, Country Head and Vice President, Marvell Semiconductors inaugurated the program. Dr. Kumar while addressing the students stated that success for achieving in life is different for different people. The students should hear to their inner voice. He said that the world is in a challenging situation, with Covid19 pandemic having affected everybody at a different level. The positive side of the crisis is the transformation of the virtual platform and digital connection. In the coming days, there will be more of artificial intelligence and machine learning that will facilitate everything. Innovation can facilitate the execution of business realities and it is the key to success to entrepreneurship. A relentless mission is important to fulfill the vision. Students and professionals should have the integrity to succeed in their life.

    Dr. Pradeep Kumar lauded the city of Bangalore for its salubrious climate and the people which it is attracting from all parts of the country. It is also called the Silicon city as it houses a vast number of industries. He said that among 200 nations in the world, India stands out for its culture. Even during COVID India was able to produce its own vaccine to protect the citizens which is a remarkable achievement.

    In his presidential address, Dr. M.R. Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University spoke on the need for industry professionals joining academics and involving teaching activity in the New education policy should attract talented people to teaching and a closer relationship between industry and academia is the need of the hour. PES built a tradition of recognizing merit. And has so far has given Rs. 35 Crores as scholarship since the inception of the University. remembering that PES stands number one in placements in Karnataka amongst 210 Engineering colleges. 1458 students are placed already from the eligible list of 1550 students with the highest compensation being Rs. 1.5 Crore/annum. Dr. Doreswamy added that the new students should have Sir M. Visvesvaraiah as their role model to achieve success in life. Every student should be an asset, not only to his family but also to the nation. He urged students not only to be job seekers but also job providers or entrepreneurs. PES through its PESU venture labs is funding Close 1.5 Crores for those passionate in becoming entrepreneurs and start their new venture.

    PES University Vice-Chancellor Dr. J. Suryaprasad welcomed the dignitaries and audiences. The dignitaries distributed the CNR Rao merit scholarships to the awardees. Dr. K.S. Sridhar, Registrar of PES University rendered the vote of thanks. Prof. D. Jawahar, Pro-Chancellor of PES University, and Prof. Ajoy Kumar, COO of PES University were also present on the Occasion.


  • PES University hosted Bio Quiz 2019 under the framework of India Bio @ Bengaluru Tech Summit

    PES University hosted Bio Quiz 2019 under the framework of India Bio @ Bengaluru Tech Summit on November 12, 2019. It was a Bangalore Regional level finals . The quiz was attended by 126 students from different colleges like PESU, MSRIT, Sir MVIT, St Joseph College, Mount Carmel College, KLE, Rai Technical University and DSU from various backgrounds like BSc, B.E and B.Tech. Out of 63 teams, 6 teams – 2 teams from PES University, 2 teams from MSRIT, one from Sir MVIT and one from St Joseph's College were selected for the final round. The final round was systematically conducted by the Quiz Master Mr. Atul supported by Mr. Akshay. The final winners were Ms. Aditi Lakshmi S and Ms. Varsha Bhat from 5th semester, B Tech- BT, PES University who will compete for state level finals to be held on November 20, 2019 in Bangalore Tech Summit 2019. 1st runner ups were from MSRIT and 2nd runner ups were from PES University. The winners received trophies and certificates from honorable Registrar Dr. V. Krishnamurthy, and Chairperson-BT, Dr. K.N Shanti of PES University. All the participants were given participation certificates. This mega event was coordinated by Dr. Seema Tharannum, BiSEP coordinator and Mrs. Divya Prabha K R, BiSEP Faculty from Department of BT, PES University.
  • Workshop on whole genome sequence analysis held

    Whole genome sequencing (WGS) is important for study of life sciences, evolutionary biology and clinical progresses. The workshop started with the quality control of a sample sequence followed by trimming of adapters. Next, the sample was aligned with the reference genome and identifiers were added. Through the use of tools for SNP and indel callers, a Variant Calling Format file was generated, whose data was analysed and annotated by matching the SNPs against the NCBI database. The designed pipeline provided a holistic and realistic experience of how sequence analysis is used in the industry. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Shivangi Desai, Ms. Priyanka H.L. and Ms. S. Sneha from LeucineRichBio on Oct 17, 2019.
  • Workshop on clinical research held

    Workshop on clinical research and current regulatory affairs was held on Aug 29 -30, 2019 in association with Samahita Research Solutions under the Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme, supported by the government of Karnataka.

  • Inauguration of graduate programs in technology, architecture and design

    The inauguration saw enthusiastic students and parents on the campus. Addressing the students, Mr P.R. Devaraj, Global Head, IT Infra, Cognizant Technology Solutions said that they should be thankful to their parents and teachers for their sacrifice and support for preparing them for their academic future. He urged the students to make their parents proud with their achievements. He emphasised on the importance of values in life and upholding them. He pointed that the world is changing, technology is all pervasive as a part of every change and wanted students to accept the change. Mr Devaraj said that Bangalore is the fourth largest technology hub in the world and wanted students to be proud of their city. In his presidential address, Dr. M.R. Doreswamy, Chancellor, welcomed the aspirant engineers and their parents. Dr. Doreswamy said that the meaningful education can be provided by an institution through the support of management, teachers, students and the parents. He recalled that PES started with 60 students and 12 teachers in 1972 and has grown to become a large educational institution with over 24000 students and 2500 faculty members. Karnataka State Higher Education Council Survey ranked PES as the number one private university in Karnataka. Recently concluded Outlook survey placed PES as the 6th top ranked state university in India. He felt that PES is synonymous with quality education and values and an institution that expects the students to follow the Sir M Visvesvaraya as the role model. He observed that this motivates the students to aim beyond being job seekers and emerge as entrepreneurs. He wanted students to remember and be proud of their Mother, Mother Tongue and Mother Land to understand the essence of life. Prof. D Jawahar, Pro Chancellor, delivered the orientation lecture and outlined SPIRIT a unique process framework put into practice successfully by PES University that enables the students to realise their potential. Dr. K.N. B. Murthy, Vice Chancellor welcomed the guests and audience. Dr. V. Krishnamurthy, Registrar of PES University rendered the vote of thanks.
