    The Central Government has declared 11th November, the birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, great freedom fighter, eminent educationist and the first education minister of education, as the National Education Day.

  • Inauguration and orientation of First Year Classes for B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Pharma programs for the academic year 2021-22

    Inauguration and orientation of First Year Classes for B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Pharma programs 2021-22 was held at the PES University campus. Dr. Pradipkumar Thaker, Country Head and Vice President, Marvell Semiconductors inaugurated the program. Dr. Kumar while addressing the students stated that success for achieving in life is different for different people. The students should hear to their inner voice. He said that the world is in a challenging situation, with Covid19 pandemic having affected everybody at a different level. The positive side of the crisis is the transformation of the virtual platform and digital connection. In the coming days, there will be more of artificial intelligence and machine learning that will facilitate everything. Innovation can facilitate the execution of business realities and it is the key to success to entrepreneurship. A relentless mission is important to fulfill the vision. Students and professionals should have the integrity to succeed in their life.

    Dr. Pradeep Kumar lauded the city of Bangalore for its salubrious climate and the people which it is attracting from all parts of the country. It is also called the Silicon city as it houses a vast number of industries. He said that among 200 nations in the world, India stands out for its culture. Even during COVID India was able to produce its own vaccine to protect the citizens which is a remarkable achievement.

    In his presidential address, Dr. M.R. Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University spoke on the need for industry professionals joining academics and involving teaching activity in the New education policy should attract talented people to teaching and a closer relationship between industry and academia is the need of the hour. PES built a tradition of recognizing merit. And has so far has given Rs. 35 Crores as scholarship since the inception of the University. remembering that PES stands number one in placements in Karnataka amongst 210 Engineering colleges. 1458 students are placed already from the eligible list of 1550 students with the highest compensation being Rs. 1.5 Crore/annum. Dr. Doreswamy added that the new students should have Sir M. Visvesvaraiah as their role model to achieve success in life. Every student should be an asset, not only to his family but also to the nation. He urged students not only to be job seekers but also job providers or entrepreneurs. PES through its PESU venture labs is funding Close 1.5 Crores for those passionate in becoming entrepreneurs and start their new venture.

    PES University Vice-Chancellor Dr. J. Suryaprasad welcomed the dignitaries and audiences. The dignitaries distributed the CNR Rao merit scholarships to the awardees. Dr. K.S. Sridhar, Registrar of PES University rendered the vote of thanks. Prof. D. Jawahar, Pro-Chancellor of PES University, and Prof. Ajoy Kumar, COO of PES University were also present on the Occasion.


  • Inauguration of graduate programs in technology, architecture and design

    The inauguration saw enthusiastic students and parents on the campus. Addressing the students, Mr P.R. Devaraj, Global Head, IT Infra, Cognizant Technology Solutions said that they should be thankful to their parents and teachers for their sacrifice and support for preparing them for their academic future. He urged the students to make their parents proud with their achievements. He emphasised on the importance of values in life and upholding them. He pointed that the world is changing, technology is all pervasive as a part of every change and wanted students to accept the change. Mr Devaraj said that Bangalore is the fourth largest technology hub in the world and wanted students to be proud of their city. In his presidential address, Dr. M.R. Doreswamy, Chancellor, welcomed the aspirant engineers and their parents. Dr. Doreswamy said that the meaningful education can be provided by an institution through the support of management, teachers, students and the parents. He recalled that PES started with 60 students and 12 teachers in 1972 and has grown to become a large educational institution with over 24000 students and 2500 faculty members. Karnataka State Higher Education Council Survey ranked PES as the number one private university in Karnataka. Recently concluded Outlook survey placed PES as the 6th top ranked state university in India. He felt that PES is synonymous with quality education and values and an institution that expects the students to follow the Sir M Visvesvaraya as the role model. He observed that this motivates the students to aim beyond being job seekers and emerge as entrepreneurs. He wanted students to remember and be proud of their Mother, Mother Tongue and Mother Land to understand the essence of life. Prof. D Jawahar, Pro Chancellor, delivered the orientation lecture and outlined SPIRIT a unique process framework put into practice successfully by PES University that enables the students to realise their potential. Dr. K.N. B. Murthy, Vice Chancellor welcomed the guests and audience. Dr. V. Krishnamurthy, Registrar of PES University rendered the vote of thanks. Dr. Suryaprasad, Director, PES Electronic City Campus was present on the occasion. The inauguration of First year B.Tech (CSE), B.Arch and B.Des programs was held at the PES University campus on August 2, 2019.
  • Transforming footpaths

    The Faculty of Architecture and Design (FOAD) is taking forward Dr Doreswamy’s suggestion to transform service lanes near the university campus into pleasant walking tracks on the lines of footpaths in Hong Kong, which he happened to visit recently.
  • Wins at Inspirit 2019

    Students of architecture program won prizes at Inspirit 2019. Roshini and Anagha won first place in Architectural Journalism. Shreya and Aditi won first place in Revive. Ritesh won first place in Shutterup. Ruthu and Mahima won first place in COLOUR MAKING. Akshatha and Akshara won first place and Mahima and Ruthu won runner up place in KNEADING COLOR. Arvind and Nishitha won first place in CHOP and POP. INSPIRIT 2019 - An Architectural Fest was organised by School of Architecture, RAMAIAH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY on 29-30 March, 2019.
  • Awards at Birla White Yuva Ratna and Yuva Ratna Next 2018

    Students of architecture program won awards at Birla White Yuva Ratna and Yuva Ratna Next 2018. Harshitha Jain secured second place for Anganwadi Design. Aishwarya, Dhanushree, Disha, Impana, Yasawi secured second place for Panel design. Arvind, Sagar, Nishitha , Geetham and Shreyas Secured won jury appreciation for Panel design. In the category of Anganwadi Design, students were able to address real life issues and find solutions for social needs. In Bus Terminal Design category, students were exposed to large scale project with on-site conditions and constraints and were able to understand and address density with Spatial solutions. In Panel Design category, students got hands on experience of working with colors, textures, and patterns and learn about composition, aesthetics, concept and response to themes. The national Level competition for architecture students was held from Dec 3, 2018 to Feb 4, 2019.

  • Architecture students win prizes at YuvaratnaNXT17

    The students of PES University are proud winners of three awards in the YuvaratnaNXT, 2017 national competition. The awards are constituted to inspire budding architects to imaginatively present ideas from a range of versatile products manufactured by Birla White. Over 400 entries from around the world were submitted. The theme for this year was: Indian festivals and culture. The challenge was to design a wall surface of size six feet by four feet size in a novel way using Birla White cement and its value added products such as Levelplast, textura and GRC. Second and fourth semester architecture students won the first prize, third prize and the judges’ appreciation award. The assessment criteria included concept, composition, aesthetics, theme, originality of idea and finally the innovative usage of Birla White materials. The designs were highly appreciated for their unique and practically implementable solutions.
  • Student innovations on display at Prakalpa 2018

    The PES University campus was brimming with ideas as students demonstrated the projects they had undertaken and completed successfully. The guiding spirit for 2018 edition of Prakalpa was “idea plus action equals change”. True the spirit, twenty two stalls were abuzz with demos as the innovators shared their best ideas, working prototypes and their understanding of the industry they will be serving. The event has grown into a vibrant platform that brings together students of various disciplines who can come up with great ideas and work towards making it into a useful solution. The all terrain vehicle, hybrid four-wheeler and go kart zooming on the tracks drew large crowds. More than 5000 students, 800 parents, 1000 students from other colleges participated in the event. Dr. M R Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University visited the stalls, heard the enthusiastic presenters and interacted with students and staff. Speaking on the occasion he said that eco-tech innovation is the need of the hour and must touch three aspects of sustainable development namely technological, social and institutional innovation. He opined that universities and institutes of higher learning must focus on solving the societal problems be it garbage, traffic, electricity, water or drainage. He applauded some of the interesting projects taken up by the students of architecture and design department, biotechnology department and mechanical engineering department. He was impressed with the scale model of Lepakshi temple by students of architecture and design department, pebrine solution for silk worms developed by students of biotechnology and formula racing cars built by students of mechanical engineering. The panel of judges comprised of seven experts from industry and academia. Mr. Sudhir Ganesh Director – Engineering at Celestial Systems, Mr. Eswar Prasad N S CEO Nascent Ventures MHE Private Limited, Mr. Kailas Dulange MEP Technical Authority and Strategic Head in Atkins, Mr. Krishnan, TESCO, Dr. Usha Raghunath IIMB, Mr. Lokesh V Managing Director Innomantra and Mr. Vidhyadhar Wodeyar, practicing architect, evaluated the projects and department stalls. The first prize was won by Agriculture Robot and scaled model of Lepakshi temple. The second prize went to glass cleaning robot and classroom furniture design. The third prize was awarded to projects on Jathropa seeds and garment waste and gesture control robot based wheel chair. The stall put up by students of BBA program was adjudged the Best Department Stall. Other projects recognized by the jury were Bellandur lake project, NUO, energy from light source using sterling engine principle and profiling of distribution of Leachate contaminants in a vicinity of secured land fill. Prakalpa is an annual event of PES University about celebrating creativity that showcases the best projects completed by students and scholars of departments and research centers in PES University and other institutions of PES Group. The active participation and hard work of the student community strengthens PES University’s commitment to promoting education that is about learning to solve real world problems.
  • PES University goes digital and unveils three new research centers at the inauguration ceremony of the new batch.

    The university campus came alive with eager students at the inauguration of the fourth batch of engineering, architecture and design programs. The PES University app was launched in the orientation program following the inauguration. At the outset, the gathering paid rich tributes to Prof. U R Rao, remembering him as the father of Indian satellite programme. Vice Chancellor Dr K N B Murthy introduced the guests, welcomed the invitees and parents and reiterated the commitment of PES University to the society and student community. The proceedings started with the dignitaries on the dais participating in the lighting of the lamp and melodious invocation by a student. Prof Jawahar, Pro Chancellor talked about the dream of Dr M R Doreswamy and founding of PES society in 1972 which then took shape of a small school and which is today a pre-eminent university with over twenty thousand students. He outlined his vision for the university and the commitment to nurture the students into competent, ethically strong global citizens. The plaque marking the launch of three centers for research was formally unveiled by the guests. Sanctioned by Department of Industries and Commerce through Karnataka Council for Technological Upgradation (KCTU) the centers are focused on pattern recognition and machine intelligence, IoT and data sciences and aircraft technologies. The commencement address was delivered by Chief Guest, Shri Darpan Jain, Commissioner-Industrial Development, Director- Industries and Commerce, Commissioner- Directorate of Urban Land Transport, Govt. of Karnataka. He drew the attention of the students to the rapid pace of change in every part of the economy which is not just “geometric or arithmetic progression but exponential”. He saw the need for students to be prepared for the increasing role of services sector and greater use of technology enabled smart devices and cities. He underscored the importance of emotional intelligence and highlighted its dimensions through the symbol of Ganesha; broad forehead for wisdom, sacred thread for discipline, lotus for blooming even in tough conditions and the big belly for accepting all viewpoints. Dr M R Doreswamy, Chancellor highlighted the university’s consistent efforts in recognizing and nurturing merit and empowering the students to become job creators and not just job seekers. The orientation program following the inauguration was conducted by Prof Jawahar. He explained how the experience and expertise in education has helped his staff to focus on each dimension of teaching and learning. The PES University app was launched on the occasion. The app provides instant access to assessments, attendance, courses taken, time table, lecture videos, and notifications. He looked forward to students becoming competent professionals, innovative in thinking and making their institution proud.
  • Creativity and Excellence Award For Architecture Students

    The recently held competition to recognize students of architecture who showed creativity and excellence in designing on a predefined theme saw participation from across the world. The team from PES University comprising of Rishab Chandra, Roshni Pushparaj, Sneha Baid, Srishti Ekanth and Supreeth S Kumar secured third place in Birla White Yuvaratna NXT award category from among 700 entries. The team conceptualized, detailed and executed the mural depicting the theme on a 6.0 x 4.0 feet area of wall. Titled ‘Nirvana’ the mural portrayed the theme, ‘Chaos to Peace’ creatively using the concepts from abstract geometry and iconography. Originality of idea and proficiency in working with the medium impressed the judges. The award vindicates the university’s emphasis on nurturing imagination and practical skills in students of design and architecture programs.

    To nourish the vision of India an innovative competition called “Digital Beti” was held. The contest, open for girl students all over India showcased presentations about government developmental plans and judged presentation creation talent that can inspire the nation. She traced the launch of the program, foresight of our leaders, the challenges it addressed and finally its potential to be the game changer for making India a developed nation.   • Top Notch Performance By PES University Team At Phase Shift 2016

    The competition tested the creative potential of around 30 teams from various architecture schools. The team from PES University comprising of Sana Faheema, Impana Manjunath, Kannika Prakash and Prathibha Prakash submitted an abstract painting inspired by Architect B V Doshi’s works and a 3D model of the same created in mount board without using glue. The entry won the first prize in Jigsaw event of the PHASE SHIFT 2016 presented by Alpha Design Technologies. The competition, an annual tech Symposium organised by BMS College of Engineering, was held on 23rd and 24th of September, 2016.
  • Milestone Achievement for Graduating Students and PES University

    The first convocation of PES University was held on Saturday, conferring MBA and MTech degrees upon 297 students. The convocation ceremony was declared open by governor of Karnataka, Vajubhai Vala. Dr Balasubramaniam, founder of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, delivered the convocation address. He advised the graduating students not be afraid to be innovative in solving problems. He considered the combination of passion and compassion as essential to career and life. He felt that digital empowerment is necessary for success in the real world. He believed that due to the enormous amount of data a professional is exposed to, the ability to manage such data and making sense of it is what matters. Dr M R Doreswamy, Chancellor of the university held that focus areas for the university are quality education; placement record and using flexibility in curriculum to equip the students with the vital skills. Alliances with foreign universities he felt gets students global exposure in higher studies. The university has recently added undergraduate and graduate courses in architecture, design, and plans to add courses in medicine, mass communication, commerce, economics and law. Vajubhai Vala in his address advised the students to show courage in tackling the problems faced by the society and the nation. He awarded the gold medals to the rank holders and exceptional achievers. Prof Jawahar, Pro Chancellor, unveiled the scroll of honor and administered the oath to graduating students. They pledged to work for public good, innovate for the advancement in their respective fields, and be aware of their social responsibility. The campus was abuzz with the enthusiasm of the graduating students.

Committed to a rigorous and interdisciplinary approach throughout the program, our students are challenged to be creative, innovative, and responsible leaders in the field. The program is planned to engage new ways of thinking about architecture and architectural education. Today, the architectural profession is of high relevance. The need is to ensure that what is built is environmentally sustainable. The architectural endeavors should not just suit the present but also the future. A career in architecture offers opportunities to transform the environment in which we live to what we want and to contribute works of value and beauty. In this regard PES University is setting up undergraduate architectural studies, i.e. Bachelor of Architecture degree program named PES University, Faculty of Architecture (FOA). FOA is committed to imparting quality education and would like to make a difference by making its students look beyond conventions and engage in innovative ways that would benefit the profession and the society at large. The FOA will be set up under the approval and guidelines of the Council of Architecture, New Delhi, a statutory body for Architecture in India. A 5 year undergraduate program leading to a bachelor of Architecture degree is being offered.
