The objective of the Studython was to test the endurance and the limits of the efforts focused on understanding and applying technical concepts. The first part of the Studython started on a Saturday evening. In this part, students had a three hour, hands on session on various system admin topics which were taught by a team of employees from Rooman Technologies. In the next session, students installed and integrated various components like Web server, App server, Database server, Firewall and Load balancer while resolving the problems as they worked through. A few students chose to catch quick naps. The Studython had a “no talking” rule in place to keep the minds of students focused on the task on hand. A team of mentors was available in the canteen area of the floor to help students with answers to their questions. On the next day, students who had completed the integration of the components delved deeper into studying each of the components. After breakfast, students started with their second task. This task required students to choose a set of 5 topics, 5 videos and 2 white papers on products and come up with five questions and answers. After lunch, in the final session of the Studython students came up with an idea for a product and submitted their respective product pitches. The event concluded with a talk by Prof. Ajoy Kumar on the learnings and how best students can use 24 hours to add something substantial to their resumes. The Studython was held from 5 PM on Oct 19 to 5 PM on Oct 20, as part of the course Operation Linux/Unix.
