PES University (PESU) signs off a MoU with NEUBERG ANAND ACADEMY OF LABORATORY MEDICINE (NAALM)

PES University signed off a MoU with Neuberg Anand Academy of Laboratory medicine (NAALM) a sister concern of Anand Diagnostic Laboratory located at Shivajinagar, Bangaluru PES University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Surya Prasad J and Director of NAALM, Dr. Sujay Prasad signed off the MoU and exchanged the documents.

Purpose and Aim of the MoU:

The MoU is for PES to build automation solutions for the specific use case around registration and segregation of patient samples in close cooperation and inputs from NAALM. This MoU is a good first step in strengthening the bilateral co-operation and mutual understanding for the field of automation appropriate for diagnostic centres. Such automation can be applicable to tasks involving robots and processes, data science and analytics, image processing, machine learning and many more.

Nearly all the processes and procedures in the laboratory are automated and done with minimal human intervention. The current project is focussed on automating Registration, Segregation and Archiving of human samples collected in standard test tubes.

Dr. Sujay Prasad and experts at NAALM are well versed in the workflow, system requirements and project details that must be met. NAALM has kindly chosen PES University and given this amazing opportunity to learn and grow with the project. This is the first of a kind opportunity for faculty and students to develop and deploy the solution from scratch. PESU will make attempts to produce innovative ideas and get started with the protyping along with improved details. With inputs from NAALM, the automation solution will be built based on:

1. Armed Robot with desired DOF (Degrees of Freedom)

2. Conveyor Belt

Duration:

The duration of the project is tentatively about 1 year that includes a prototype development with deployment initially the centre for testing.

Team:

The team in action will comprise students and faculty members from Electrical and Electronics Department and Mechanical Engineering Department at PES University collaboratively and the project will be guided through CRAIS (Center of Robot Automation and Intelligent Systems).

Funding:

NAALM will provide a funding of about Rs. 5 lakhs to support the project that will be paid in phases as project execution progresses.

Thanks to NAALM for providing a fantastic opportunity for PES University to support the project.
