Prof Philip Kotler in his inimitable style explained the concept of corporate governance and marketing which included the conversation about the future marketing and its close relevance to the economy of India. He asked the students to question their perception on “should companies add sustainability to profits?” He presented proof of companies succeeding with being creative and innovative by hiring right employees who can come up with new ideas and can think out of the box. He described the practices which can aid companies to ensure diversity and gender equality. The students surprised Prof Philip Kotler with birthday wishes in advance with a short video of his mesmerizing life journey and he was overwhelmed by it. He said that he was truly impressed by the response of the audience and hosts. At the outset, he was welcomed by Dr. J. Surya Prasad, vice chancellor, PES University. Dr. Shailashree Haridas, Dean of faculty of management studies, PES University outlined the impressive 50 years journey of PES starting from pre-university college to a university that has been ranked number one in the state and is one among Top 100 universities in India. Prof. Brijesh Singh gave a warm introduction about Prof Philip Kotler and briefly described his life and achievements that includes recognition as a leading marketing author, consultant, and Distinguished Professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management at North-western University. He is known for popularizing the definition of marketing mix. Prof Philip Kotler is the author of over 80 books, including Marketing Management, Principles of Marketing, Kotler on Marketing to name a few. It was a great honour for PES University for having hosted Prof Philip Kotler in the online talk on May 25, 2022.
