Organizing workshop for visually challenged on e-filing income-tax returns

The income tax authorities have facilitated availability of tax-related content in a variety of formats for use with assistive technology such as screen reading software, refreshable Braille displays and voice recognition software. Mr. Ganesh and Mr. Sanjay Sharma, officials from the income tax department interacted with the visually challenged participants to make them understand all the technical terminologies and concepts while filling the IT Returns. They also outlined employees’ rights and employers’ responsibilities. Mr. Shiekh Habeebullah from Cisco, and Ms. Malashree from the department, both fully blind, conducted the hands-on training session. They explained the usage of screen reader software on the income tax website, used for filing the income tax returns. The Department of Computer Applications in association with The National Federation of the Blind, organized the one-day workshop for the visually challenged on How to e-file IT Returns independently on June 16, 2024 at RR campus.
