Panel discussion on nutrition and health
The discussion brought forth nutrition insights that led to actionable habits for developing a healthier lifestyle to meet the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 3 of health and well-being for all. Estimating calorie requirement by factoring in age, physiological aspects, gender and activity is key to deciding on the steps to be taken for improving one's well being. The effect of transition from our traditional thali to fast foods and small plate meals has to be observed. The role of macronutrients of carbohydrates, proteins, fats and micronutrients of vitamins, minerals in maintaining overall health needs deeper understanding. Prioritizing whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins is important for optimal nutrition. Making informed choices about processed foods is equally important. The panel discussion on health and nutrition was conducted by the Department of Hospitality and Event Management in association with Arogya World, US-based global health non-profit organization on August 12, 2024 at RR campus.
