Ideathon on sustainability through technology
Green Glitch ideathon saw teams competing across innovative themes related to sustainability and environmental impact. The event featured five problem statements: design a sustainable AI infrastructure framework, focusing on efficient hardware design and responsible data management; implement a system for efficient recycling and reuse of electronic waste from computing devices; develop technologies to optimize energy consumption in urban computing environments, with a focus on smart grid integration and energy-efficient solutions; create strategies for carbon-neutral cloud computing, using innovative energy management and offsetting techniques; design an energy-efficient data center that minimizes carbon footprint and maximizes resource utilization. In the first round, participants brainstormed and ideated app-based solutions, fostering collaboration and creativity among team members. The second round challenged them to build prototypes of their proposed solutions, encouraging rapid iteration and innovative thinking under pressure. In the third round, the shortlisted teams presented their prototypes through detailed presentations, showcasing the effectiveness of their solutions and responding to questions from the judges. An inspiring talk by the event sponsor encouraged deeper exploration into the world of app development. Participants explored domains such as renewable energy optimization, waste management automation, sustainable transportation solutions, and eco-friendly AI. The event also included live music and eco-friendly workshops. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Mamatha H R and Dr. V Krishna, who were joined by Prof. Pavan A C, Prof. Sowmya Shree P, and Mrs. Anuradha Venkatasubbu, who provided invaluable guidance on green technology. Green Glitch Hackathon was organized by the GronIT Club and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering on August 17, 2024 at RR campus.
