Workshop on clinical genomics
The workshop focused on teaching students in-silico tools used for genomic analysis, particularly on comparison of genomes to identify mutations. It involved the use of FASTQC and SamTools softwares as well as demonstration on how they conduct particular operations such as alignment, indexing and identification of mutations. This helped students to understand why these measures are required for genomic analysis and also the working of the software. The session also consisted of analyzing and understanding the output results of these tools. The workshop highlighted the significance of particular terms and explained how to extrapolate these results to real-world applications such as identification of new virus strains. The workshop on clinical genomics conducted by Dr. Vivek Chandramohan, CEO, Director, Insilicomics was organised by the Department of Biotechnology on February 1, 2025 at RR campus.
