National Deworming Day program

National Deworming Day program

The program aimed to reduce the burden of soil-transmitted helminth infections among children by administering Albendazole tablets as per national guidelines. Before the deworming activity, a health education session was conducted to educate students on the importance of deworming, proper hygiene practices, and the role of sanitation in preventing intestinal worm infestations. The session included interactive discussions on handwashing, use of footwear, safe drinking water, and personal hygiene, encouraging students to adopt healthy habits. Faculty members and healthcare workers actively participated in distributing the medication and ensuring proper supervision. The initiative contributed to improving the overall health of schoolchildren and reinforcing the importance of regular deworming in school-based health programs. Department of Community Medicine, PESUIMSR in collaboration with the Urban Health Training Centre, successfully conducted the National Deworming Day program at a Government High School, Gottigere on February 12, 2025.
