PES PU College students participated in the Bengaluru South District Inter Pre-University college Yoga Sana Competition conducted by the Department of Pre-University Education, Bangalore organised by Arihant PU College on August 10, 2022, in which REVANTH A. S and S. THILAK (1st PU) are selected for State Level Yoga Sana Competition which will be held at Haveri in October 2022.
The BBA Sports Management Program, under the Department of Management Studies and Commerce, PES University entered into an MoU with the association of Simply Sport Foundation(SSF) Bangalore and Collearn Education Technologies Private Limited, Bangalore on July 22, 2022, for enhancing skills amongst students.
Simply Sport Foundation was founded by Ankit Nagori, Co-founder of Curefit, in 2021, and is striving to support the grassroots sports ecosystem in India. The Team focuses on athletes striving to reach their full potential and can impact countless others to do the same and constantly impact success in the lives of athletes who & vigorously thriving to hit their goals in & Life and Sports.
Collearn Education Technologies Private Limited, founded by Srishti Jain in 2021, is on a mission to provide opportunities for pursuing passion through non-traditional cohort-based courses delivered by world-renowned industry experts. Their Focus ison Skill Acquisition and Lifelong Long Mentorship by Renowned Industry experts.
Dr. M R Doreswamy Hon’ble Chancellor, PES University congratulated the Department on the partnership with both Simply Sport Foundation and Collearn Education Technologies Private Limited, which allows students to have easy access to a global professional world of Sports.

Swami Sivananda Ji has said, Guru is greater than God because God gives you materialistic things in life, but Guru gives you the knowledge and shows the way to live life, because of the blessings of my Guru, I am living my life at the age of 125. So each one of you must respect your Guru.
He appreciated the management of PES University for taking the initiative to encourage students to play sports and thanked everyone for inviting him on this day.
Dr. M. R. Doreswamy, the Hon'ble Chancellor of PES University, stated that PES University aims to train and raise elite athletes in various disciplines, with positive development in bringing sports facilities to students and staff on campus. He said Yoga and meditation should be taught in all schools, colleges, and universities.
In the newly constructed Golden Jubilee Block, the University has established an in-house World-class Gymnasium, Basketball Court, Badminton Court, Table-Tennis Arena, Squash Court, Yoga Studio, Running-Track, and Sports Science Center with the intention of promoting sports and the health of each individual.

The eighth international Yoga Day was held at PES University campus. Dr. R. Nagarathna Raghuram, Dean of Academics, SVYASA University Bangalore was the chief guest and presided by the Honourable Chancellor of PES University Dr. M.R. Doreswamy.
Dr. Nagarathna addressed the students on the importance of Yoga and showed the techniques for reducing anger and fear during exam time by remembering the Three M's (mastering over the monkeying of the mind to overcome stress, anxiety, and anger). She insisted students practice Yoga in whichever country they work after graduation.
Sri Raghuram spoke on the qualities of Yoga in enriching one's internal capabilities like strength and determination. He also said Yoga has been practiced throughout the world without any discrimination of caste, religion, or ethnic background. In his address he said that Three Narendra's are responsible for this transformation in the world, namely, Narendra MahaYogi, Lord Shiva, who taught Yoga to Parvathi Narendranatha Datta/Swamy Vivekananda brought it to America about 150 years ago and finally Narendra Modi, the honourable Prime Minister of India, who introduced Yoga to the world through UNO and made people to think of Yoga as a means of connecting humanity.
Honourable Chancellor of PES University Dr. M.R. Doreswamy said that he is happy to see the International Yoga Day on the occasion of the 75th year of India's independence. Dr. Doreswamy was grateful to the honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to bring Yoga to the world dais through International Yoga Day. Dr. Doreswamy admired Prime Minister Narendra Modi is conviction to Indian culture, tradition, and ritualistic practices, which were not seen in any previous PrimeMinisters. As an advisor on educational reforms to the Government of Karnataka, he made 18 recommendations and one among them was the practice of Yoga from KG to PG classes in all the Universities. He also advised MCI and AICTE on having Yoga as a mandatory subject in higher educational institutes and Universities.He said that Yoga should be part of inter-collegiate/ University competitions similar to sports and other activities. He said that practicing Yoga enhances physical, mental, and spiritual growth, an essential requirement of human development. He announced that Yoga will be part of the mandatory practice of PES University curriculum.
Dr. K.S. Sridhar, Registrar of PES University welcomed the guests. Dr. Anupallavi, a Yoga instructor in the Department of Sports demonstrated and taught a few yoga asanas and pranayama to a large audience.Later, the chief guests inaugurated the Yoga studio, a state-of-the-art facility within the campus. Sri Vinay, Director of sports, delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. J. Surya Prasad, Vice-Chancellor of PES University graced the occasion.
PES University Men's Cricket Team clinched the runners-up position in an inter-university cricket tournament with Shivakumar B U recognized for most hundred's and as a most valuable player and Nishank L for best wicket-keeping in the tournament. The south zone inter-university men’s cricket was held at Hindustan University, Chennai from June 7-15, 2022.
Achintya Krishna won the Bronze Medal as member of Men’s Basketball Team Under-19, Karnataka at Khelo India Youth Games 2022 held from June 4-13, 2022 in Panchkula, Haryana
Saneeth Dayanand won the bronze medal in Men’s Singles Badminton at Khelo India Youth Games 2022, organized by the Government of Haryana in association with the Sports Authority of India from June 4 -13 at Panchkula, Haryana.
Creating a history of sorts, Shreyas G Hosur becomes the First Civil Servant from Karnataka to complete the grueling ‘IRONMAN’ Triathlon, considered to be the toughest single-day sports event in the world, which includes 3.8 km Swim, 180 km Cycling, and 42.2 km Running. He completed the event in 13 hrs 26 mins on 5th June 2022, in Hamburg, Germany. The finishers of the event are popularly known as ‘IRONMAN’ befitting the mental and physical strength the race demands!
Starting the 3.8km Swim at 6:30 am in the chilly waters of the Hamburg lake, it was followed by 180km cycling in the countryside and ended with a full marathon of 42.2kms.
An alumnus of PESIT, Shreyas is a Civil Servant from the 2012 batch, currently serving as Deputy Financial Advisor with South Western Railway in Bengaluru. It is a proud feeling that he has been able to achieve this challenging feat despite the challenges of his profession.

PES University’s Department of Physical Education and Sports management held the Awards Ceremony for the Campus Challenge Organized in the Campus during April 30, 2022 to May 06, 2022. A total of 8 games were held with 17 students bagging Medals and Certificates for their performances at the National and International levels.
Mr.Santhosh Babu, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Ramanagara, Dronacharya, and Arjuna Awardee Mr.Jude Felix Sebastian were the Chief Guests.
In his address, Mr.Santhosh Babu appreciated the efforts of the Sports Department in motivating students to participate in sports activities.
Mr.Jude Felix complimented the University for creating a state-of-the-Art Sports infrastructure to boost sports activities on the campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.M.R.Doreswamy, Chancellor emphasized the need for encouraging students to participate in sports and said that Sports is equally important as academics for students. He mentioned that “Local Sports like Kabaddi and Kho-kho must be equally encouraged and University must support the students to learn and play. He shared that he was the Captain of the Kabaddi Team during his college days.
Spardha – the annual Sports Magazine was released on the occasion of Dr.J.Suryaprasad, Vice-Chancellor, Dr.K.S.Sridhar, Registrar and Mr.M.S.Vinay, Sports Director was present on the occasion.
ATHLOS, the Sports Quiz tested the participants’ knowledge of different sports. The highlights of the event promotion included themed pre-quiz activities, registrations through QR code, stalls hosting contests, active Instagram page and buzzer designed and built in house with a touch of green by way of reusing soda bottles for the buzzers. The team of Arshan Rodrigues, Aayudh and Adarsh Nair came first followed by team of Kunal, Kuval and Mayank in second place and team of E S Ananth G Saketh Reddy and Sarath Sundar in third place. ATHLOS quiz event was organized by the Quotient Quiz Club of EC Campus on April 26, 2022.

PES University swimming team won 2 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals in the All India Inter University Aquatic Competition held at KIIT-KISS Swimming Complex in Bhubaneswar, Odisha during December 22-26, 2021. Mohit Venkatesh of Sem 3 ECE-Btech won silver medal in 1500 mts freestyle and bronze medal in 400 mts freestyle swimming. Nikitha S V of 1st Year MBA won silver medal in 800mts freestyle and bronze medal in 400 mts freestyle swimming. Dhruti Muralidhar of 1st Year MBA won a bronze medal in 800 mts freestyle swimming.
Naren won a silver medal in the Botswana International Badminton Tournament, 2021. Naren is a student of the BBA Sports Management program.

Get, Set, Throw Intra Class Competition was successfully managed by the students of BBA HEM program on November 13, 2021 at the university cricket grounds. Team Madhura emerged as winners and team Alpha as runners up in the competition.
Students of BBA Sports Management program got an opportunity to interact with Jude Felix, Indian hockey player who has captained over 250 matches, including two World Cups, two Asian Games and three Champions Trophy tourneys. He focused on the game despite personal hardships and financial crisis. He led the national hockey team from 1993 to 1995 and is an Arjuna and Dronacharya Award winner. The student interaction was organized by the Department of BBA Sports Management at RR campus on October 23, 2021.
Bringing together experience, knowledge, and skills of everyone involved is key to building high performance capabilities in the field of sports. Students got an opportunity to understand the importance of ingraining mental toughness, improving self-confidence, handling performance pressure and building sustained focus and discipline as a team at the workshop conducted by Bhargavi Ramachandran ICF Associate Certified Coach. She shared insights from her experience of guiding internationally ranked badminton players and top ranked national players. The workshop featuring insightful team building activities was organized by the Department of Sports Management of RR campus on October 23, 2021.

Divy Nandan won second place in the Super Stock Category in MRF National Championship held at Madras Motor Speedway in Chennai from September 24-26, 2021.
Rakshit, third semester student of MBA program won first place in CVL Shastry Memorial Table Tennis state championship-2021 and third place in men’s state ranking table tennis Tournament. The tournaments were held in held at Malleshwaram Association, Bangalore in September, 2021.

Saneeth Dayanand caused two upsets in a day to seal his place in the finals. His winning spree ended in the finals and he emerged as the runner-up in the under 19 men’s category in the Russian International White Nights 2021 held at Gatchina, Saint Petersburg, Russia from July 1-4, 2021. Saneeth will be joining the BBA in Sports Management program at PES University.
Saneeth S Dayanand Student of II PU Commerce from PES Institutions has been selected for the Russian International Junior Series 2021 at St. Petersburg, Russia from 1st to 4th July 2021.
He is also a National Badminton player. He was awarded No. 1 in All India Doubles in Junior Category and No. 1 in Karnataka state singles and doubles.
He is keen on Joining BBA- Sports Management course in PES University.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering emerged as winners in the The Inter-Department Throwball competition was held at the Electronic City Campus on Feb 6-7.
To revive the memories of childhood and enjoy traditional games, the department of MCA organised inter semester Lagori games. The second semester team emerged as the winners in the final game held at PESU RR campus on Feb 11, 2020.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering won the inter-department Volleyball competition and Department of Science and Humanities emerged as runner up. The contest in which 9 teams participated was held at EC campus from Feb 3-5, 2020.
As part of the Makar Sankranti celebrations, the MCA department organised a kite flying session for students. Dr. Veena S, Chairperson of the department inaugurated the event in which more than 50 students took part. Some students experienced kite flying for first time and those skilled in the game took the kites high in the sky. The sight of kites of different colours, shapes and sizes, high in the air was mesmerising. The message of freedom and growth with strings of responsibilities attached to the ground was loud and clear at this event held at PESU RR campus on Jan 28, 2020.
PES University’s Badminton women’s team emerged as the winner at Riviera 2020. The other games in which PES University registered impressive wins included third place in women’s basketball and throwball and men’s table tennis and chess. Riviera 2020, the international cultural and sports fest of Vellore Institute of Technology, saw participation in over 129 events by 38,000 students from 700 universities and colleges from 30 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa. The four day annual cultural extravaganza got underway on February 14, 2020 on the VIT campus in Vellore.
4th International Staff Tournament was organized by Department of Physical Education & Sports at PES University from Jan 20 to 23, 2020. Staff members from more than 35 Engineering Colleges actively participated in this mega event including University of Colombo and University of Kelaniya from Sri Lanka Tyagarajan College of Engineering, Coimbatore and Manipal Institution of Technology and Kasturba Medical College from Manipal. Badminton and Cricket were major sports in this event.
