One Day Seminar on The Indian Criminal Justice System in the New Millennium
The National Seminar was inaugurated on 23rd of November 2019. The program was graced and inaugurated the Chief Guest Shri Amit Deshpande, Advocate High Court of Karnataka who. The discussion centred around the following sub-themes: Socio-legal Implications of Criminalization of Triple Talaq , Mob Lynching: Challenges and Solutions , White Collar Crimes in India ,Use of Technology in Criminal Investigation, Substance Use and Abuse in Adolescents: Need for Intervention, Online Gaming: Prohibition vs. Regulation, Social Media and Crime: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Violence against Women and Children: Contemporary Issues and Challenges ,Criminal Laws and LGBTQ+ and Scaling down of Adultery.
A total of over 100 abstracts from students, practitioners, research scholars and academia were submitted for evaluation. Out of them, 70 abstracts were selected for full-paper submission and presentation. The papers were duly presented on 23rd November over a course of three sessions. The discussions were moderated by Dr K B Kempe Gowda (Principal , Vivekanada College of Law), Dr .Aradhana Sathish Nair (Associate Professor , School of Law , Christ University), K L Srinivas (Advocate and Mediator) and Dr Mallaiah M R (Assisstant Professor , School of Law , Christ University).
The valedictory function was graced by Dr. S V Joga Rao , Professor, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru on the same day where the winners and runners up were also recognised with trophies and cash awards. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. V Krishna Murthy, Registrar of PES University and the Guest of Honour was Dr. V. Krishna, Dean, Student Affairs and Dr. Sandeep S. Desai , Dean, Faculty of Law introduced the guest.
