Adoption and development of government schools should be a social movement: Dr. MR Doreswamy

Founder of PES Institutions and Chancellor of PES University Dr.M.R.Doreswamy's birthday was celebrated as Founder's Day at the University campus. To mark the occasion, educational materials such as bags, notebooks, and instrument boxes were distributed to over 400 children Higher Primary Schools located at Veerabhadranagar and Hosakerehalli, one among the many schools adopted by PES.

Sri. Munirathna, Honorable Minister for Horticulture, Planning, Program Monitoring & Statistics of Government of Karnataka, speaking on the occasion said that Dr. M.R.Doreswamy has chosen to celebrate his birthday amidst young children from Government school, which he felt was the most befitting way of the celebration. He shared with the children; he was born in a poor family where his father could not afford to pay the school tuition fee while he was in a Government school. Today, with his dint of hard work, he is the cabinet minister in the Government. He said that he determined that no parent has the difficulty to pay for their children's education. He informed the gathering that he has earmarked 200 crores for his constituency in RajaRajeshwari Nagar to take care of free education, about 25000 school kids. He heaped praises on Dr. M.R.Doreswamy for his unwavering commitment for the education.

 Guest on the occasion, Senior cardiologist Dr. Mrs.Vijayalakshmi Balekundri narrated a few good things to motivate the children and adopt it for themselves. She mentioned that there is a difference between a plant and a human being. A plant gives air, shade and fruits to mankind without any expectation in return, whereas a human being pelts stones at the tree to take away the fruit from the tree. She advised the children to take good care of plants and also said that knowledge is one thing, which cannot be robbed. She congratulated Dr.M.R. Doreswamy for his immense contribution to the society in imparting quality and value based education, for which PES Institutions are popular.

She wished Dr. M.R.Doreswamy good life, energy, and health to serve more for the cause of education.

The ceremony was presided over by PES founder and Chancellor Dr. Doreswamy. Dr. M.R.Doreswamy recollected the condition of the government school at Veerabhadra Nagar and Hosakerehalli, which was in a bad condition then. Dr. M.R.Doreswamy adopted those schools immediately. He said that he uplifted the school by constructing a new building with all amenities such as classrooms, library facilities, drinking water, a toilet and playground for the children. Headmistress of schools who were present on the occasion and children of school thanked Dr. M.R.Doreswamy for providing the best facilities to them. DR. J.Suryaprasad, Vice-Chancellor of PES University and many other invitees attended the function.

Registrar PES University Dr. K.S.Sridhar welcomed the dignitaries, staff, and government school children. The Dean of Student Affairs Dr.V.Krishna rendered the vote of thanks. The function ended with all children receiving bags and notebooks.
