Inauguration and Orientation of First Year Classes for UG Programmes at PES University

The inauguration and orientation of First Year classes for UG Programmes was held on 30th July 2023. The event witnessed an enthusiastic start to the academic session 2023-24, with the commencement of courses in diverse fields such as Computer Applications, Commerce, Law, Management, Psychology, Economics, Design, and Performing Arts. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Sri. V. V. Lakshminarayana, former CBI Director and Retired Additional DGP Maharashtra, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his inaugural address Sri. V. V. Lakshminarayana emphasized on the significance of unity and collective progress for the prosperity of our motherland, India. He urged students to understand the true essence of "Bharat Matha," and stressed that the greatness of the nation lies in the greatness of its people. He articulated the purpose of joining a university which stems from the word universe and the importance of “Dress and Address” to be followed by students in all walks of life. He called upon the teachers to nurture creativity seen among students as he felt that a holistic education should focus on physical development as well as nurturing and training the student mind. He said that education plays a pivotal role in the process of nation-building and empowers the youth to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the country. In his presidential address, Prof. M. R. Doreswamy, Hon’ble Chancellor of the University, underscored the integral roles played by teachers, and parents in shaping the future of young minds. He emphasized on the significance of moral values and quality of education in molding the leaders of tomorrow. Prof. Doreswamy advised the students to incorporate in themselves the essence of three “Ms” and “Ls” in their lives where the three Ms represent Mother, Mother Tongue, Motherland and three Ls the three Ls stand for Life Long Learning. He highlighted that by adopting these values will enable a student in building a strong character and thereby an identity for himself. He concluded his speech by driving home the point that the culture of learning extends throughout an individual's lifetime. Dr. J Suryaprasad, Vice Chancellor of the University welcomed the dignitaries while Dr. K. S. Sridhar, Registrar proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Ajoy Kumar, COO, PES University and Dr. Shailashree Haridas, Dean Management and Commerce were present on the occasion. During the Orientation session that followed the inauguration, Prof. D Jawahar, the Hon’ble Pro Chancellor of the University, delivered a comprehensive speech. In his address, he elucidated the university's vision and mission, emphasising their significance in shaping the institution's objective. He mentioned that the academic rigor in the university fosters a conducive learning environment.
