PES University partner to Launch Skill Training initiative for Karnataka State
PES University is proud to announce a ground-breaking partnership with Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL) for their flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, BEST (Bajaj Engineering Skills Training). BEST aims to equip engineering and diploma holders with the latest skills and knowledge required in the ever-evolving manufacturing industry, making them competent and employable. The BEST centre at PES University Bangalore, the first such center to come up in Karnataka will be a state-of-the-art facility, boasting high-quality infrastructure and cutting-edge equipment sourced from around the world. It will have highly trained faculty dedicated to training engineers and diploma holders from Tier 2 and Tier 3 colleges in advanced manufacturing skills to make them industry ready. This program will offer two certification tracks: Graduate Trainee Engineering for 6 months and Diploma Trainee Engineering for 4 months.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize this collaboration was signed by Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Vice President, Human Resources, Bajaj Auto Ltd., and Dr. J. Surya Prasad, Vice Chancellor, PES University. Chancellor of the University Prof M.R. Doreswamy a strong proponent of social welfare activities who has adopted over 40 government schools under PES University and Pro Chancellor Prof. D. Jawahar, extended wholehearted support to this initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sudhakar Gudipati, VP-CSR, Bajaj Auto Ltd thanked Prof. D. Jawahar, Pro Chancellor, PES University for giving Bajaj Auto Limited the opportunity to set up the center on PES campus. He shared that BEST(Bajaj Engineering Skills Training) is the flagship CSR project of Bajaj Auto and aims to set-up 10 centers across the country, this initiative is one of the largest programs in skill development by the industry. He said that the BEST centers will change the face of core engineering and upskill youth to get employment in the manufacturing sector.
Mr. Sabyasachi, VP-HR, Bajaj Auto Limited said that this is one of a kind of partnership and will become a case study. He also shared that skills imparted to graduates through the center will provide employment opportunities particularly to those coming from tier 2 and 3 cities.
Mr. Ramesh, Head – Skilling, Bajaj Auto Limited mentioned that Bajaj believes in engaging with its stakeholders for a long term & sustainable partnerships and hopes to see the association grow big.
Mr. Singhvi, Joint Managing Director, Sansera Engineering, who has been instrumental in bringing the center to PES thanked all those who have come together to create something to benefit the industry. He also said that the academia will hugely benefit from this initiative and assured all support for this cause.
Prof. D. Jawahar in his address said that the University was extremely happy to join hands with Bajaj to have this center at PES University. He assured all support to the center to make it the best BEST center in the country.
Prof. Nagarjuna, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University welcomed the gathering and Dr. K.S. Sridhar, Registrar proposed the vote of thanks.
About BEST center:
The curriculum of BEST consists of four interdisciplinary learning modules, covering essential areas, Mechatronics, Motion Control & Sensor Technology, Robotics & Automation, and Industry 4.0 & Smart Manufacturing. Students will have access to fully equipped laboratories featuring advanced equipment for Smart Vision, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Internet of Things (IoT), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) etc.. To ensure that the program is industry-relevant, BEST curriculum is designed by senior leaders & engineering experts from Bajaj Auto Ltd. BEST will prioritize practical, project-based learning, with 70% of the program dedicated to hands-on training. Additionally, students will benefit from guest lecturers delivered by industry experts. Deserving candidates will have the opportunity to receive scholarships making this initiative accessible to a wide range of students from socially and economically weaker sections. . Furthermore, BEST will provide placement support to help students kickstart their careers in the manufacturing industry.
