Win at national level robotics competition
Team of Siddharth D Srinivas, Srividya Prasad, Darsh Agarwal, Krutharth M C, core team members of IEEE RAS PESU, won First Runner Up position in Robonautica. The team was shortlisted as one of the top 8 teams to attend the offline round after a screening of over 40 teams. Participants were expected to develop solutions on the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework that tested their understanding of mapping, autonomous navigation and image processing. Using a simulation of a TortoiseBot, the participants generated a map of the robot’s environment, scanned Aruco markers and autonomously navigated precisely to waypoints. The offline event involved programming of a TortoiseBot to complete tasks expected of a futuristic intelligent car. This included the implementation of lane detection, obstacle avoidance and traffic sign detection using top-of-the-line hardware provided by Rigbetel Labs. Robonautica, two-day national level robotics competition was held as part of annual fest Rhapsody of Indian Institute of Science on October 14-15, 2023.
