Brainstorming Session on research collaboration
The brainstorming session explored the potential collaborative research programmes in terms of formulation and submission of collaborative R and D projects and undertaking of technology extension activities. Dr. Rakesh Mishra, Director, TATA Institute for Genetics and Society, in his inaugural speech emphasized on the facilities available in the institute covering areas of disease diagnostics and management based on the database available as part of their surveillance study, development of R and D projects. In his address, Prof.K.Siddappa, President of Karnataka Association for Advancement of Science advised coming up with potential collaborative programmes involving scientific expertise of TIGS and KAAS enrolled Institutions. Dr. Sudarshan TSB, Dean of Research, PES University explained the importance of research collaborations to evolve novel research projects to address the present day scientific challenges. Prof. Prabhakar, Secretory KAAS suggested collaborating to reach excellence in the key areas expertise by the participating institutions. The presentations on the research activities of the participating organization by Dr.K.N.Shanti, Chairperson, Department of Biotechnology, PES University, Dr.Channarayappa, MS Ramiah college of Science, Dr.Vijayendra Reddy, BMS college of Engineering, Dr.Manjunath, Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere, Dr.Niranjan, Davangere University brought up valuable ideas. The brainstorming session resulted in the making of groups involving participating institutions based on their areas of interest to make potential research proposals involving the scientists from TIGS. The participants expressed the view to achieve progress in R and D and extension activities with mutual collaboration and scientific support. The brainstorming session on research collaboration and extension activities conducted by Department of Biotechnology, PES University was jointly organized by Karnataka Association for Advancement of Science (KAAS) with its member organizations and TATA Institute for Genetics and Society (TIGS) on February 2, 2024.
