World Health Day

World Health Day

Interactions of medical professionals with local communities to raise awareness of global health issues is crucial for promoting health and well-being. This year’s theme, Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures, highlighted the critical role of maternal and newborn health in shaping long-term well-being. Aligning with the theme, an antenatal health check-up was conducted for all registered pregnant women at Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) Lakkur. A screening camp was also organised in which high risk antenatal cases were diagnosed and managed. The RHTC team visited the anganwadi centres where health screening was done for under five children in the area. Apart from these, a sensitisation programme along with PMSMA was conducted in which OBG specialist from PESUIMSR, medical officer of PHC addressed the pregnant and lactating women regarding health promotion, nutritional intake, immunisation, family planning and child rearing practices. This initiative served as a reminder of the urgent need to focus on maternal and newborn health and ensure that women have access to healthcare specialists and infrastructure during pregnancy, labour, delivery and child care. On April 9, 2025, Dept of Community Medicine in collaboration with RHTC at Lakkur observed World Health Day with social outreach addressing an important medical issue in our country.
