With this objective, the Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication (IJMC), PES University, hosted an insightful media talk on “Opportunities and Challenges of Journalism” by Mr. S. R. Shivakumar, Founder and Chief Editor of Ahinda News, during the Academic Year 2025–26.

The session was held at the PESU IJMC Campus, RR Nagar, Bengaluru, and offered students a candid and experience-driven perspective on the realities of the journalism profession.

A Career Spanning Broadcast and Independent Media
Mr. S. R. Shivakumar brings with him a distinguished media career that spans television journalism, content leadership, and media entrepreneurship. As a former Programme Director at Udaya TV, he directed over 100 television episodes, including the widely recognized programme “Ditta Hajje” in 2015.

Sharing his professional journey, he spoke about his evolution from a leadership role in mainstream television media to founding Ahinda News, highlighting the courage, resilience, and vision required to build an independent media platform in today’s competitive landscape.
