PES University Organizes 21st ISME International Advances In Mechanical Engineering - 2023

The 21st ISME International Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering was inaugurated at PES University Campus on July 13, 2023. The conference is being jointly organized by PES University and IIT Madras.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. M. R. Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University stressed that in the present scenario industry and academia needs to work together and bring about changes in the curriculum. He suggested using this conference as a platform to discuss and deliberate the involvement of industries in framing the syllabus to suit industry needs not limiting to only theory, but to find applications. He also spoke on the need to put more effort in attracting talented students, by focusing on research and development, with the help of premier institutions such as IISc and IITs.
Professor D. Jawahar, Pro Chancellor, spoke about the many opportunities that are available to students regardless of the branch of engineering. He also invited IITM to set up a center of excellence at PES University, and encourage collaboration with other prestigious colleges and universities.
Dr. M. L. Munjal and Dr. S. P. Singh also spoke about their journeys in the field of mechanical engineering, highlighting the need to accept challenges in order to ensure that young engineers will accept the changing face of mechanical engineering as it keeps expanding.
M. K. Swamy, the Chief Guest on the occasion, delivered a presentation about Toyota Kirloskar’s efforts on ensuring employee happiness, technical training for economically poor students, collaboration with colleges, their success in the World Skill competition and their manufacturing prowess at their 100% green energy powered plant at Bengaluru. He also spoke about the research and development of future hybrid engines, including battery-powered plug-in engines, hydrogen fuel cells, self-charged electrification and Toyota’s goal of ensuring a carbon-neutral organization by 2035
Dr. K. S. Sridhar, Registrar of the University welcomed the dignitaries while Dr. N. Rajesh Mathivanan, Chairperson of Mechanical Engineering proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr. J. Suryaprasad, Vice-Chancellor PES University and Prof. Hariharan from IITM were present on occasion.
