Inauguration of medical education unit and faculty orientation programme on new medical education regulations
The new medical education regulations aim to create a comprehensive and competent curriculum, promote competency-based teaching, encourage self-directed learning, and maintain high ethical standards. The orientation programme on changes introduced in the undergraduate medical education system under Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023 proposed by National Medical Commission highlighted integration with the competency based system and elaborated on drafting the teaching schedule aligned to it. Dr. T.R. Hariprasad, Dean and Principal inaugurated the Medical Education Unit in the presence of Dr. B.G. Manjunath, Medical Superintendent and Dr. Babu S. Nema, HoD, Pharmacology. Dr. Keya Das, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Dr. Padmanabha T.S. Associate Professor of Pharmacology conducted the introductory session and elaborated on group dynamics. Dr. Parineetha P Bhat, Professor and Head of Biochemistry conducted the session on overview of CBME. Dr. Sudeepa D., Professor and Head of Community Medicine and Dr. Smitha Chandra B.C. Associate Professor of ENT conducted the session on GMER-2023. Dr. Anu Francis, Associate Professor of Anatomy and Dr. Suma C, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology conducted the session on alignment and integration in CBME. Dr. Sudhir G.K., Professor and Head of Physiology and Coordinator of MEU conducted the session on drafting teaching schedules in CBME. Dr. Shyma Parapurath, Associate Professor of Physiology moderated the Open house and Dr. Sudhir G.K., MEU Coordinator, delivered the concluding remarks. This faculty development programme was organized by the Curriculum Committee in association with MEU for the teaching faculty in PESUIMSR on Nov 29, 2023.
