PES University Hosts Lamp Lighting Ceremony 2026, Marking the Professional Oath of New Nursing Students

Bengaluru, April 24, 2026 — The PESU Institute of Nursing, EC Campus, celebrated a significant milestone with the Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the 4th Batch of B.Sc Nursing students (Academic Year 2025–26). Held at the Dr. MRD Student Center from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the event marked the formal induction of first-year nursing students into the profession, inspired by the enduring legacy of Florence Nightingale.

The ceremony began with a dignified procession and an interfaith invocation song featuring Hindu, Christian, and Muslim prayers—symbolizing unity and compassion, the core values of nursing. Dignitaries lit the traditional lamp and offered floral tributes to Dr. M. R. Doreswamy and Florence Nightingale.

The highlight of the morning was the Main Lamp Lighting Ceremony. Each student received a lighted lamp, symbolizing the passing of knowledge, service, and empathy. This was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony, marking the students’ official entry into the healthcare profession.

In their inspiring addresses, the dignitaries emphasized discipline, compassion, professionalism, and lifelong learning. “The lamp symbolizes the light of knowledge, compassion, hope, and dedicated service,” said Dr. Arulmozhi Baskaran P M. Dr. Suresh Krishnamurthy highlighted that “Nurses are the backbone of healthcare institutions,” while Dr. Nagarjuna Sadineni stressed the global respect nursing commands as a profession. Shri. Shrikanth Phulari urged students to pursue excellence with sincerity and empathy.

The event concluded with a dedication song, felicitation ceremony, and the National Anthem. Faculty members, parents, and students from the 2025–29 batch were present in large numbers, making it a memorable and emotional occasion.
