  • Faculty Achievement: Rachel Shetty part of World Cup winning U-19 Indian Women's cricket contingent.

    Mrs. Rachel Shetty, faculty of BBA Sports Management is the present manager of the Under 19 Women’s Cricket Team of India. The Indian squad won the match over England in the first-ever ICC U-19 women’s T20 World Cup final on January 29, 2023, to clinch the trophy.

  • ORIENTATION- TREASURE HUNT

    The main aim of this event was to introduce our Collegiate Social Responsibility (CSR) Club to the first years and others who do not have complete knowledge of the functioning, objectives and motives of our club.

    The orientation session began at the MRD Auditorium starting with an inaugural song followed by a welcome speech, lighting of the lamp by chief guests, talk by the chief guests as well as by an alumnus of PES who was a part of CSR Club. The chief guests were Dr. D. Rajasekharappa and Dr. T. Mahalakshmi. The guest of honour was Mr. Nithin. The chief guests and guest of honour were honoured for their esteemed presence.

    We, the club of CSR showcased our past events and endeavors to everyone present with us for the orientation with the help of a small video. Just as importantly, our new mascot of the club was revealed to all.

    The last and the most exciting part of the event was the Treasure Hunt. Treasure Hunt started from MRD Auditorium, where we displayed our first clue on the screen, followed by six other clue spots across the campus. The participants were running across the campus finding clues. Students in teams of 2 or 3 were allowed to participate in the treasure hunt which consisted of many rounds where the clues to the next destination were given only on completing a given task in that current location.

    The treasure hunt was a fun and exciting game that the first years loved and played with utmost enthusiasm.

    The whole event was directed and controlled well by the council members and the volunteers. The registrations for the Orientation - Treasure Hunt were taken on online mode from 13/09/2022 to 14/09/2022 and on spot registrations at 3:30 PM on 16 th September 2022. The treasure hunt was won by the first three teams to complete the tasks and was awarded chocolates and saplings as a part of the CSR motive to grow more plants or trees in society.

  • Dr. Subhash Reddy B, Librarian - Best Librarian Award by the Department of Public Libraries, Government of Karnataka

    Dr. Subhash Reddy B, a Librarian, has been felicitated by Prof. D. Jawahar, Pro-Chancellor, PES University, on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day, celebrated on August 15, 2022. He was awarded the "Best Librarian Award" by the Department of Public Libraries, Government of Karnataka on the occasion of National Librarian's Day held on August 12, 2022. 

     Prof. M. R. Doreswamy, Chancellor, of PES University congratulated Dr. Subhash on his achievements.

    The games organised were Cricket, Volleyball and Badminton in which Staff from various colleges took part.

    A total of 550 Faculty across 24 Institutions in Karnataka Participated in various sporting activities.

    Prof. M R Doreswamy Chancellor PES University, expressed happiness over the large number of Faculty who participated and heartily congratulated all the winners.

  • Support staff appreciation day

    The cooperation extended by the non- teaching staff during the year was recognized and appreciated by the chairperson, admin officer and faculty with fulsome praise and gifting of cakes in the event organized by the BBA HEM department on December 21, 2021.

    Prof. Smitha, faculty in the department of hospitality and event management (HEM) delivered a keynote address at a conference hosted by the Indonesian Tourism ministry and supported by Java Tourism Board on Rethinking Sustainable and Resilient Solutions in Today's Global Tourism on November 24, 2021.


  • Guest lecture on entrepreneurship

    Entrepreneurship in a growing economy like India’s presents ample opportunities and formidable challenges. Mrs. Pavithra Solai, co-founder of AI Practitioner who specializes in Deep Learning and Computer Vision interacted with the students who are keen on striking out on their own. Drawing from her rich experience as an entrepreneur, she talked about the advantages of choosing to start a new venture. The guest lecture was hosted by the department of management studies on November 23, 2021.


  • Distinghished lecture on Important metrics for Research Publications

    The Central Library, PES University (PESU), and Karnataka State Library Association (KALA) organized a distinguished lecture as part of the National Library Week Celebrations 2021 on Friday, 19th November 2021 @ 3.00 PM.

    Dr. Sudarshan T S B, Dean Research, PES University delivered the distinguished lecture on "Important metrics for Research Publications" students, Research scholars, faculty members, and Librarians of the various organizations were present on the occasion.

  • Staff win at inter collegiate badminton tournament

    PES University bagged the runners up spot in the Men's Badminton tournament in the B.S. Naryana Memorial Inter collegiate Staff Tournament 2021 held at BMS College of Engineering recently. The team included Prof. Chandar A and Prof. Ajay, Research Scholar, Dept of Mech Engg, Prof Venkatesh Kalyanam, MBA Department and Dr S V Venkatesh, Chairperson, Dept of Civil Engg.

  • PES University Faculty in the News: Dr. S V Satish

    Dr S V Satish spoke at an interactive session of the international meet-up of robotics and automation enthusiasts. As an invited panel speaker, he shared his perspective on Robotics and Automation during COVID-19. The meet-up in virtual mode that was held on Sep 18, 2020 and organised by IEEE RAS International Chapter hosted experts from Japan, India and Indonesia.

  • PES University faculty in the News: Prof. Sivaram curates culinary session for Amul

    Amul India hosts talented chefs to present unique native cuisine on its social media sites. Prof Sivaram was invited by Amul India to demonstrate the recipe of a native cuisine. He rustled up a Chettinadu dessert called Kavuni Rice Halwa, black rice pudding, a Chettinadu delicacy for Amul’s global audience. Encouraged by the response to the show, Amul expressed interest in hosting more culinary shows curated by the department of the university. Prof. Sivaram R is an Asst. Professor in the department of BBA-Hospitality and Event Management. The session was held on June 15, 2020 on Amul Facebook Live for #SimpleHomemadeRecipes series garnering over 125 K views.

    Dr. M R Doreswamy, Advisor to the Government of Karnataka on Educational Reforms (Cabinet Ranking) occupied his office at Vidhana Soudha Room No 260 today after performing a simple pooja.

    Dr. H P Khincha Former Vice-Chancellor VTU, Belagavi, Dr. Siddappa Former Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore University and Dr. J Suryaprasad , Vice-Chancellor, PES University and Dr Lokesha A, OSD and Ex-officio Joint Secretary to Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, officials from Government of Karnataka Secretariat, academicians and representatives from the press and media took part in the pooja. 

    It can be recalled that Dr. M R Doreswamy ji worked right from the first day of his appointment from his own office at PES University-Hanumantha Nagar campus and also one of his recommendations of MLAs and MLCs adopting 3 government schools was included in the budget. 

    Even today after the pooja, he started deliberations of education reforms in primary, secondary and higher education with the pioneers in academia.

  • Live Online Teaching for Students of PES University

    PES University has been recording class-room teaching regularly and making available to students to access the lectures from home. This practice started five years ago has proved very beneficial to students. The faculty teaching the subject also receives an update every day on the number of students who viewed the lecture in addition to providing the popularity rank of the teacher. 

    With the current Corona Virus situation causing a lot of anxiety, Universities had to shut down classes in the interest of safety of students.

    The University in its bid to utilize the situation constructively is beaming classroom lectures live for students to access the same from their place of stay since Monday March 16, 2020.

    The University has put in place a special time table covering 9 lecture sessions in a day each of 40 minutes duration across all courses. The schedule is shared with students so that they are informed on the subject and the teacher. The recorded version of the class is also made available to the student by the end of the day. This helps students to have a relook at the content delivered for better understanding and also serves students who would have missed the live session.

    This initiative of the University has been well received by the students with over 80% of students accessing to live / recorded sessions of the classes conducted.

    In addition, PES University central library has also provided off-campus access to students for its online resources. Library users at home or elsewhere can log in through their library server and gain access to e-resources.

    Dr.M.R.Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University visited the command center that monitors the live online teaching sessions. He appreciated the efforts of the IT team under the mentorship of Prof.Ajoy Kumar, Chief Operating Officer for creating one such facility for students. Prof. Siddappa, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore University and Member, Board of Governors, PES University was all praise for the University for having initiated the live online teaching to students which has enabled them to utilize the time effectively while at home. Prof.Jawahar, Pro-Chancellor, PES University said that the exercise of the University in reaching out to students while they are away from campus has been very fruitful.

  • The felicitation ceremony - Dr. M.R Doreswamy @ REVA University

    It is rightly said that there is no age of being an achiever, this thought rightly imposes on Dr. M.R Doreswamy who recently proved his efficiency in the field of education by getting appointed as the Advisor- Education Reforms, Govt. of Education. The educationist who pursued excellence in the field of education, Dr. Doreswamy, was conferred by our Honorable Chancellor Dr. P Shyama Raju on his February 29, 2020 for being one of the greatest pillars in the education systems and Indian society.

    The ceremony was attended by all the dignitaries of REVA University along with the guest dignitary who is one of the pillars of REVA University but makes his presence rare, Dr. Shridhar Mitta, Advisory Board Member and of course our Guest of the day, Dr. M.R Doreswamy.

    The felicitation ceremony commenced with the huge applause and introduction of the star of the day Dr. M.R Doreswamy by our Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S Y Kulkarni who left no stone untouched to spread the words of appreciation for the guest of the event.

    Dr. M.R Doreswamy thanked REVA for giving him so much respect and then appreciated Dr. P Shyama Raju for his continuous effort from the ground level. Dr. Doreswamy then spoke about his journey which he started as a teacher and today also if he gets an opportunity, he never misses and loves to teach. He added, “I taught for more than 40 years and my subject was Economics”. He also advised the faculty of REVA University to enjoy their teaching and students should also enjoy learning. Dr Doreswamy clearly stated that he was stunned by the progress and leap steps taken by REVA University which has in so short a time period soared high. He stated clear that REVA must focus on international partnerships and invite faculty and students from abroad to come and study in the mini USA campus created by Dr P Shyama Raju.  

    He concluded his speech by saying that a person should never forget 3 Ms in life – Mother who is a personification of god, Mother Tongue and Mother Land. Also, appreciated Bangalore city as being the most employable and education-oriented city.

    Dr. P Shyama Raju, Chancellor, REVA University, thanked Dr. M.R Doreswamy for being so kind and appreciating REVA. He also made it clear that REVA has already invited students from Universities abroad and as a practice, students from select countries are trained at REVA UIIC and another cohort of students from Universities in the UK and Spain will be attended the Summer Schools offered by REVA School of Architecture and School of Performing Arts. The event was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Shubha, Director, Commerce and Management.

  • Best Paper in Pedagogical Innovations at MARKCON2020 by PES Univeristy faculty

    Dr. Jessy Nair, Associate Professor, MBA Department received the award for Best Paper in Pedagogical Innovations for the paper titled Co-creation for continuous learning at MARKCON2020, Marketing Ecosystems and Innovations. The nomination was submitted in three parts: nomination details, innovation statement and annexures. The final round involved quizzing by the jury of Dr. Moutusy Maity, Professor-Marketing, IIM-Lucknow and Dr. Tapan Sarker, Griffith University, Australia. The International conference, open for faculty in marketing domain was held from 9-11 January, 2020 at IBA, Bangalore.

  • Dr M R Doreswamy to advise Karnataka government on education reforms

    Reforms in the education sector has been one of the focus areas for the governments in India. The government of Karnataka nominated Dr M R Doreswamy, Chancellor of PES University as advisor on education reforms with cabinet rank. The position will enable Dr M R Doreswamy to contribute to realising India’s human resource potential to its fullest in the education sector with equity and inclusion. Dr M R Doreswamy brings to the important position his experience as a committed advocate of dispensation of quality elementary and higher education that paves the way for positive change which inculcates enablement, unravelling latent potential, and facilitating the youth to demonstrate ethical behaviour, professional superiority, and passion to prosper and which results in advancement of the nation.
  • Bizquiz 2019 held

    The intense quizzing competition conducted by quiz master Meghavi Manjunath saw students of BBA and BCom programs from all campuses of PES University compete in three-rounds with options, buzzer and audio-visual cues. The contestants showcased their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions. Though some of the questions were very tricky, the teams answered them with confidence. The questions put forth to the teams were intriguing, exciting and impressed the audience and had them clapping loudly when the teams answered correctly. 22 teams from Hanumanthanagar campus, 4 teams from Electronic city campus and 39 teams from RR campus participated in the quiz. The winners were from RR campus and runners up from Hanumanthanagar campus got attractive purchase vouchers and certificates. Bizquiz-2019 for was organized by Department of BBA on October 31, 2019.
  • A paper on Human Robot Interaction, co-authored by Suchitra Saxena, Shikha Tripathi and Sudarshan T S B, got shortlisted as top 4 finalists in IEEE/RSJ International Conference

    A paper titled 'Deep Dive into Faces: Pose & Illumination Invariant Multi-Face Emotion Recognition System' on Human Robot Interaction, co-authored by Suchitra Saxena, Shikha Tripathi and Sudarshan T S B, got shortlisted as top 4 finalists in 2019 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems(IROS 2019) under JTCF Novel Technology Paper Award. The finalists were KTH Sweden, PES University, TU Delft and Technische Universität Darmstadt Germany. IROS 2019, the flagship international conference in robotics and intelligent systems was held at Macau, China, during 4-8 November, 2019. IROS 2019 is the 32nd edition of the conference. It is co-sponsored by the IEEE, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), the Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), the Society of Instruments and Control Engineers (SICE), and the New Technology Foundation (NTF). 1127 papers were accepted and presented in the conference from around 53 countries out of around 3000+ submissions.The conference had around 60+ industry demo and exhibition and several Robotic competitions.

  • Faculty in the News: Prof. Sathya Prasad

    Prof. Sathya Prasad was on the jury panel for the finals of Smart India Hackathon (Hardware) 2019. The hackathon organised by MHRD, AICTE, i4c and Persistent Systems, is based on an open innovation model for identifying new and disruptive technology innovations to solve the challenges faced in our country. The hackathon was held in Ciombatore on July 25-26, 2019. Prof Sathya Prasad heads Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) in PES University.
  • Dr. Snehanshu Saha wins PEACE Award - Distinguished Researcher of the Year Award, 2019 in Machine Learning & AstroInformatics.

    Dr. Snehanshu Saha wins PEACE Award-Distinguished Researcher of the Year Award, 2019 in Machine Learning & AstroInformatics. World Research Peace Award powered by RULA recognizes distinguished contributions in a subject area of high potential impact by a thorough review of published work, open source contribution and pedagogy among other things. PEACE is a foundation in Far East.The award is based on impactful publications in the field and citations received against those publications. The award contains a plaque, trophy and citation and lifetime free membership of the foundation. Dr. Saha has been contributing vigorously in the development of AstroInformatics, a niche area at the intersection of Machine Learning and Astronomy, developing novel; algorithms and methods to understand complex patterns in large and diverse astronomical databases. He and his collaborators proposed two novel metrics for computing habitability of Extra-solar planets by a fusion of computational modeling and machine learning methods. His work in this area in well cited. He and his team are developing fast computing pipelines for classification of large, heterogeneous data. His contribution to this field in the last five years include setting up AstroInformatics Research Group in PES University, endorsed by IEEE and International Astrostatistics Association.
  • Book release event of “Applications of Thermodynamics”

    PES University organized a book release event of “Applications of Thermodynamics” published by Wiley India Pvt. Ltd. on 27th April 2019 at 11AM. The book was authored by Dr. V. KADAMBI (Former Professor, Mechanical Engg., IIT Kanpur & Former Visiting Professor, Mechanical Engg., IIT Gandhinagar), Dr. T. R. SEETHARAM (Chair Professor in Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engg. Dept., PES University & Former Principal, NIE, Mysore) and Mr. K. B. SUBRAMANYA KUMAR (Former Associate Professor, Mechanical Engg. Dept., NIE, Mysore). Dr. PRADIP DUTTA (Professor & Chair, Department of Mechanical Engg., IISc, Bangalore) released the book on this occasion. The event was presided over by DR. M. R. DORESWAMY, Ex-MLC, GOK (Founder Chairman - PES Institutions, Chancellor - PES University). On the occasion, Dr. M. R. Doreswamy mentioned how teachers are the heart of any institution for the growth of students and society. He also suggested teachers to follow 3L’s - (Life Long Learning) and emphasized that until teachers learn they cannot inspire students. Destiny of the country will be shaped by the teachers. Dr. T. R. Seetharam explained why this book is required for the academic community and unique contents in the book. Dr. Pradip Dutta shared his experience of 25 years teaching thermodynamics and how this book will be helpful for students, teachers and industrial researchers. The function witnessed the large gathering of students and admirers of the authors as well as faculty members.

    Ashish Parthasarathy, won two gold, three silver and a bronze medal in the Innovative Championship: Accommodation Whizz Wizard. He presented a research paper in the on AUGMENTED REALITY as AN INNOVATIVE TOOL TO ENHANCE GUEST EXPERIENCE DURING STAY IN A FIVE STAR HOTEL in the TRANSITION 2019 conference. The theme of the conference was INNOVATIONS IN ACCOMMODATION INDUSTRY ACROSS THE GLOBE- IMPLICATIONS FOR THE STAKEHOLDERS AND SUSTAINABILITY. Ashish is Assistant Professor with Department of Hospitality and Event Management. The event was organised by Garden City University on March 14, 2019.
  • Hackathon for social change

    The Hackathon on building an application for an NGO saw new ways to digitally manage social services relevant for old-age homes, orphanages, rural development and women empowerment.The prototypes were evaluated by staff members Mr. Santosh Katti, Ms. Deepti Narayan, and alumni Mr. Gulfam Wani, from Accolite and Mr. Rakesh from Saviyant.The participants learnt the way to build application with unique features from scratch with their creative ideas under tight deadlines.The participants exceeded the expectations and built the software applications with zeal and team spirit. The hackathon was conducted by Department of Computer Applications on Nov 17, 2018.

    Shaheer Farooq and Chef Sivram of department Hospitality and Event Management, officiated as Jury Members at Big Bazaar Kitchen Superstar Cookery Competition. The contest had participants present plated foods that were judged for nutritional and dietary aspects on presentation, menu knowledge, taste and portion control and was held on July 7, 2018.
  • Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister for HRD @ PESU for interactive meet with teachers

    Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister, HRD visited PES University for an interactive meeting on 07/05/2018 at 4:00 PM. All the faculty of PES institutions participated in the meeting presided by Dr. M R Doreswamy, Chancellor , PES University and in the august presence of Prof. D Jawahar, Pro Chancellor, PES University. Shri Prakash Javadekar gave an overview of government’s initiatives, new programs that have been implemented and working well to improve the dispensation of education in India. He informed that Swayam program that includes course work, lectures and materials freely available for 1032 courses; gyan program in which 800 professors from 62 different countries helping in teaching and delivering lectures; a hackathon program in which good number of problem statements work with professors who mentor them for 3 months and as of now 54 solutions are at final stages of development. While stressing research and innovation he said that prosperity by innovation is best, He requested institutes that are known for quality education should help other institutions. Teacher training is also important step so that teachers to be agents of change and good teachers change society. While voting Person, Party and Principle (3 P’s) should get priority. Shri Javadekar ji also took questions from audience and gave answers during the interaction session and also requested to give constructive suggestions that will be definitely considered and help change for the good.

  • Prestigious talent development award for Dr Balaji Singh

    Dr Balaji Singh received the lifetime achievement award from Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) recognizing his illustrious career in enabling people, departments and organizations to realize the true potential. ISTD is a national level professional society which conducts sought after training programs in the areas of human resources development with special emphasis on training of trainers, training goals and objectives and training tools and technologies. Dr Balaji Singh’s work in the fields of vocational training, corporate training and soft skills training is acknowledged by the leading institutions be it leading trade bodies, corporate or professional communities. He has designed and conducted programs that have resulted in enhanced performance of individuals and groups in academic, organizational and public settings. Personal Effectiveness Learning Lab is one among the many of the programs and modules envisioned by him that have delivered training outcomes exceeding expectations of leading companies. He has identified and implemented globally proven and cutting edge techniques for productivity management, lean manufacturing, performance appraisals and other functions at an organizational scale. A distinctive feature of his work is the effective use of technology in driving the desired outcomes at speed and scale in tune with the demands of the global competitive landscape. The technology dimension coupled with extensive field research has resulted in new insights into the evolving work and business culture. For instance, his project which he chooses to call anecdotal research has seen his team closely studying and documenting the progress in a start-up from an abstract idea to a profitable business concept. The social component in his work has helped student community and non-governmental organizations in creating new and efficient ways to serve the needy. Dr Balaji Singh’s experience and expertise is playing an important role in designing the management programs in PES University.
