Bengaluru, March 20, 2026 — PES University marked the International Day of Forests 2026 with an engaging pop‑up event aimed at spreading awareness about the vital role forests play in sustaining ecological balance. The event, held at The Quadrangle, opposite the PESU Library, drew the participation of more than 50 enthusiastic students.

Organized by the Department of Hospitality & Event Management, the program ran from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and featured a mix of interactive activities, awareness sessions, and educational engagements led by student volunteers.

A Day Dedicated to Forest Awareness
The pop-up stall opened with a brief introduction to the significance of the International Day of Forests — a global observance that highlights the importance of forest ecosystems. Students were invited to explore a variety of games and activities designed to promote awareness about forests and wetlands, emphasizing conservation and responsible environmental behavior.

A notable quote highlighted during the event emphasized the core message of the day:
“Protecting forests is protecting Mother Earth. And protecting forests is creating and protecting life itself.”

Active Student Leadership
Second-semester students — Rishika, Yasshaswini, and Hani — played key roles in facilitating the activities and engaging visitors. Their responsibilities ranged from managing the stall to interacting with students and presenting educational content.

Although the event did not feature keynote speakers or formal competitions, its strength lay in student-to-student engagement and experiential learning.

Learning Outcomes
Students who participated gained insights into:

  • The ecological and biodiversity value of forests
  • The role forests play in climate regulation and sustainable development
  • Simple conservation practices and how individual responsibility contributes to environmental protection

Event Oversight

The event was curated under the guidance of Prof. Jaykumar and organized by Bhaskar Sailesh, with strong support from the university’s event management department.
