PES University proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of Ms. Kaveri Sharma, a 6th‑semester Computer Science and Engineering student, who secured Second Place in the Grand Finale of the AMD Slingshot Idea Challenge 2026. Her accomplishment stands out among an impressive pool of 40,000 national registrations, marking her as one of the brightest innovators in the country.
Representing PES University on a National Stage
Representing both PES University and the Bangalore region, Kaveri competed alongside 10 regional teams and emerged as the First Place winner in the regional round. Her victory earned her a place in the prestigious national finals, where she ultimately secured Second Place and a cash prize of Rs. 3 Lakhs.
Innovation Rooted in Social Impact
Competing under the theme “AI for Sustainable Development,” Kaveri presented a visionary solution that leverages Artificial Intelligence to solve a critical urban planning challenge.
Her project addressed the Right to Education (RTE) 1 km mandate, proposing a more accurate and impactful way to measure school accessibility.
Instead of relying on conventional straight‑line distances, her AI‑driven solution calculates actual pedestrian walking distances, enabling policymakers to evaluate educational accessibility more realistically. This approach helps improve the equitable distribution of educational resources—especially in densely populated urban environments.

ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ 6ನೇ ಸೆಮಿಸ್ಟರ್ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ಸೈನ್ಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಎಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ಕು.ಕಾವೇರಿ ಶರ್ಮಾ, AMD ಸ್ಲಿಂಗ್ಶಾಟ್ ಐಡಿಯಾ ಚಾಲೆಂಜ್ 2026 ರ ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಫಿನಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಾಗಿ ಎರಡನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪಿಇಎಸ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕವನ್ನು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಇತರ 10 ತಂಡಗಳ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸಿದ ಕಾವೇರಿ ಶರ್ಮಾ, ಸುಸ್ಥಿರ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ AI" ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ನವೀನ ಪರಿಹಾರವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರ ಯೋಜನೆಯು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಹಕ್ಕು (RTE) 1 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಆದೇಶದ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕ ನಗರ ಯೋಜನಾ ಸವಾಲನ್ನು ಪರಿಹರಿಸಿತು. ಡೇಟಾ-ಚಾಲಿತ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನ ಪ್ರವೇಶವನ್ನುಸುಧಾರಿಸಲು ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಏಕವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಿದ ಕು.ಕಾವೇರಿ ಶರ್ಮಾ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಸುತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದರು. 40 ಸಾವಿರ ನೋಂದಣಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ್ದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಫಿನಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, AMD ಸ್ಲಿಂಗ್ಶಾಟ್ ಐಡಿಯಾ ಚಾಲೆಂಜ್ 2026 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿ, ರೂ. 3 ಲಕ್ಷ ನಗದು ಬಹುಮಾನವನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದರು.
ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವಿತ ಪರಿಹಾರವು ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ನೇರ-ರೇಖೆಯ ಅಂದಾಜುಗಳ ಬದಲಿಗೆ ನಿಜವಾದ ಪಾದಚಾರಿ ನಡಿಗೆ ದೂರವನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಶಾಲಾ ಪ್ರವೇಶವನ್ನು ನಿಖರವಾಗಿ ಅಳೆಯುವ ಸವಾಲನ್ನು ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಿತು. ಇದು ನಗರ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲಗಳ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾನ ಹಂಚಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಕ್ರಿಯಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
