Sugar Crash 2026: A Sweet Celebration at PES University
The Open Air Theatre at PES University transformed into a vibrant food haven on April 9, 2026 as students and staff came together for Sugar Crash 2026, an exciting food festival organized by the Department of BBA–Hospitality and Event Management. Running from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the event blended culinary creativity with hands-on event management experience.
The festival was entirely organized and executed by 2nd Semester BBA–HEM students, who managed the event from conception to completion. From early preparations and the official launch of Sugar Crash to the smooth handling of sales operations, students demonstrated teamwork, planning, and professionalism throughout the day.
One of the biggest highlights of the event was the enthusiastic response to the food stalls, which featured crowd favorites such as Berliners, tacos, subs, and a variety of beverages. The campus buzzed with excitement as students and staff enjoyed the offerings, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
Although there were no formal speakers or competitive elements, the event captured the spirit of hospitality with a light-hearted quote that resonated with food lovers:
“A sub sandwich without cheese is like a hug without a squeeze.”
The festival witnessed an impressive turnout of over 200 attendees, making it a grand success. The organizing faculty team — Prof. Nagarjuna, Dr. Thashneem, Prof. Bhaskar Sailesh, and Dr. Jayakumar V — provided guidance and support, allowing students to take ownership while ensuring smooth execution.
Beyond the fun and flavors, Sugar Crash 2026 served as a powerful learning platform. Students applied core event management principles, coordinated logistics, handled budgeting and operations, and delivered quality customer service. They also gained valuable insights by evaluating the overall performance and success of the event.
Sugar Crash 2026 was not just a food festival, but a hands-on lesson in hospitality, teamwork, and experiential learning — leaving behind sweet memories and valuable professional skills for everyone involved.
