National Engineers’ Day Celebrated at PES University

Every year, India celebrates National Engineer's Day on September 15 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, one of the nation's most distinguished engineers, statesmen, and visionaries. In keeping with this tradition, PES University marked the occasion with a meaningful celebration that paid tribute to his enduring legacy and inspired students to embrace the values of innovation, excellence, and nation-building.

The celebrations were held at the Ring Road Campus of PES University, where faculty members, administrators, and staff gathered to honor the remarkable contributions of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to his portrait placed near the Central Library, symbolizing the University’s respect for a pioneer whose work continues to shape modern India.

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. J. Suryaprasad emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from great personalities whose lives exemplify dedication, leadership, and service to society. He highlighted the University’s commitment to nurturing holistic development among students by providing three books annually to every new student, including a book on the life and legacy of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. This initiative aims to encourage students to learn from his vision, achievements, and contributions to the nation.

The event was attended by several distinguished members of the University leadership, including Registrar Prof. K. S. Sridhar, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Shishir Nagaraj, Prof. V. Krishna, Prof. S. Radhakrishnan, Prof. Latha Pashupuleti, and University Librarian Dr. Subhash Reddy B, who joined in offering floral tributes and honoring the legendary engineer.

A special address by Prof. V. Krishna highlighted the extraordinary life and accomplishments of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. He spoke about the engineering marvels, visionary leadership, and developmental initiatives that earned him a revered place in India’s history. The address underscored how values such as innovation, discipline, foresight, and commitment to national development remain relevant for aspiring engineers today.

The celebration served as more than a ceremonial tribute. It offered an opportunity for students and faculty members to reflect on the transformative role engineers play in society. From infrastructure and technology to sustainable development and innovation, engineers continue to be at the forefront of shaping a better future. The life of Sir M. Visvesvaraya stands as a powerful reminder of how technical expertise, when combined with vision and integrity, can create a lasting impact on generations.

As PES University celebrated National Engineers’ Day 2026, the occasion reinforced the institution’s commitment to fostering future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers who will contribute meaningfully to society. By honoring the legacy of one of India’s greatest engineers, the University continues to inspire students to pursue excellence and uphold the ideals that define the engineering profession.
