Industry Visit to ITC Gardenia: An Insightful Hospitality Learning Experience

The students of the BHEM 2026 Batch recently participated in an Industry Visit and Hotel Orientation Tour at ITC Gardenia on September 10, 2026. The visit provided students with first-hand exposure to the hospitality industry's operational excellence, luxury service standards, and sustainable hotel practices.

The tour began with a warm welcome by the Learning and Development (L&D) Manager, who introduced students to the hotel's vision, service culture, and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. The orientation offered a comprehensive overview of various hotel departments and their interconnected roles in ensuring seamless operations.

During the tour, students explored key areas of the property, including guest rooms, banquet facilities, restaurants, lounges, laundry operations, and recreational spaces such as the gym. This immersive experience allowed them to observe how a luxury hotel maintains high standards of service, quality, and operational efficiency.

A major highlight of the visit was the session on sustainable concepts in hotel operations. Students learned how modern hospitality organizations incorporate environmentally responsible practices while maintaining luxury and guest satisfaction. The discussions provided valuable insights into the evolving trends and innovations shaping the future of the hospitality sector.

The visit also helped students understand the importance of both front-of-house and back-of-house operations. They gained knowledge about guest service excellence, front office responsibilities, housekeeping procedures, and the critical support functions that contribute to a hotel's success. These practical observations complemented their classroom learning and enhanced their understanding of real-world hospitality management.

The industry visit was coordinated by Prof. Nagarjun and Prof. Bhumika Raghunath, with guidance from Prof. Jaykumar. A total of 22 students participated in the program, making it an engaging and interactive learning experience.

Such industry interactions play a vital role in bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice. The visit to ITC Gardenia enabled students to gain practical exposure, develop industry awareness, and better understand the skills required for successful careers in hospitality management.
