Combating Antimicrobial Resistance: Insights from the AMS Sensitization Program

On 27th May, 2025, an Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Sensitization Program was successfully conducted at PESUIMSR with the aim of creating awareness about the rational use of antibiotics and addressing the growing concern of antimicrobial resistance.

Dr. Avinash CK, co-ordinator of the AMS committee highlighted the importance of AMS initiatives in clinical practice. Dr. Sushma spoke about the rational use of antibiotics and the structure of the stewardship program. Dr. Vijaya S. presented insights into the institution’s antibiogram, underlining local resistance patterns and implications for therapy. The program concluded with an expert opinion by Dr. Visweswara Reddy Y. J., who emphasized the urgent need for multidisciplinary collaboration in combating antimicrobial resistance.
