CME on Biomarkers in Translational Medicine Highlights Advances in Patient-Centered Healthcare

The Department of Biochemistry at PES University Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PESUIMSR) successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled "Role of Biomarkers in Translational Medicine: Bridging Molecular Science & Patient Care" on August 19, 2026 at the PES University Electronic City Campus, Bengaluru. The event brought together healthcare professionals, faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students to explore the transformative role of biomarkers in modern medicine.

The one-day academic programme attracted significant participation, with 204 delegates attending the CME and 50 participants enrolling in the hands-on workshop. Designed to promote scientific learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, the event provided a platform for discussing emerging developments in molecular diagnostics and precision medicine.

Throughout the programme, experts shared insights into the expanding applications of biomarkers across various medical specialties, including diabetes care, oncology, neurobiology, pharmacogenomics, and newborn screening. The sessions highlighted how advances in molecular science are enabling earlier diagnosis, personalized treatment strategies, and improved patient outcomes, thereby strengthening the bridge between laboratory research and clinical practice.

A key feature of the CME was the inclusion of poster presentations, which offered researchers and students an opportunity to showcase their scientific work and engage in meaningful academic discussions. The event also featured a hands-on workshop on Sanger Sequencing, providing participants with practical exposure to one of the foundational techniques used in molecular genetics and diagnostic research.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Reshma Kiran, Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, whose efforts contributed to the successful planning and execution of the event. Through expert-led discussions and interactive sessions, participants gained valuable perspectives on the latest advancements shaping the future of translational medicine.
