Community Medicine PESUIMSR

Bengaluru, May 5, 2026 — As part of the Family Adoption Village (FAP) activities, the Department of Community Medicine at PESU Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PESU IMSR) organized a plantation drive at Gowrenahalli, Anekal. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, strengthen community engagement, and highlight the connection between ecological well‑being and public health.

MBBS Phase I (2025–26) students participated enthusiastically, planting a total of 15 saplings across selected locations in the village. The activity was carried out with the support of the local administration, which assisted in identifying suitable planting sites and providing essential resources. Students ensured that each sapling was planted securely and adequately watered.

The plantation drive offered meaningful exposure to community‑oriented public health practices. Students gained a deeper understanding of how environmental improvements, such as tree planting, contribute to cleaner air, shade, ecological balance, and overall community well‑being. Interactions with local residents also allowed the team to raise awareness about the long‑term benefits of tree plantation.

The initiative proved to be a valuable hands‑on learning experience, reinforcing principles of preventive and promotive healthcare while fostering teamwork, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship among future medical professionals.
