May 22, 2026, Bengaluru — To mark World Hypertension Day, the PES University Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PESU IMSR) conducted a community health awareness program at the Gottigere Primary Health Centre (PHC). The initiative focused on educating patients about hypertension, its risk factors, and simple lifestyle measures to prevent complications.
Educating the Community on Hypertension
The program benefited around 15–20 patients visiting the PHC. Doctors and educators explained what hypertension is, how to understand blood pressure readings, and why regular monitoring is essential. Participants were also informed about common risk factors and the importance of consistent follow-up and treatment adherence.
Lifestyle Measures for Better Health
A significant part of the session emphasized preventive and lifestyle‑based approaches to managing blood pressure. Participants were encouraged to adopt
- A balanced, low‑salt diet
- Regular physical activity such as walking or simple exercises
- Stress‑relief practices like meditation
- Adequate sleep routines
- Healthy weight management
These guidelines were shared in an interactive format to help patients apply them practically in their everyday lives.
Engaging and Impactful
The session was well received and appreciated by the attendees. By improving awareness and understanding of hypertension, its risks, and prevention, the program contributed to better community health and early detection efforts.
